NFL Betting Odds: Chiefs Favored Over Ravens In 2024 Season Opener
Oddsmakers are already hard at work for the 2024 NFL campaign. On Monday morning, the league announced the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs will host the Baltimore Ravens in the opening regular-season game on Thursday, Sept. 5. It’s a rematch of last season’s AFC championship game, in which the No. 1 seed Ravens fell at home to the Chiefs. Let’s break down the Chiefs vs. Ravens odds.

chiefs vs. Ravens odds: Kansas City is a slight favorite
Per the table, the Chiefs are favored by a field goal at home at BetMGM. Caesars has the game below the key number of three. Since NFL home-field advantage is worth roughly 1.5 points in the betting market, this line insinuates that bookmakers have Kansas City power-rated a point (or so) higher than Baltimore.
This offseason, the Ravens parted ways with linebacker Patrick Queen (Steelers), edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney (Panthers), safety Geno Stone (Bengals), and offensive linemen John Simpson (Jets) and Kevin Zeitler (Lions). Defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald also left the Charm City to become the Seattle Seahawks’ head coach. Macdonald replaces the now-retired Pete Carroll.
Granted, Baltimore bolstered its backfield with tailback Derrick Henry, the 2020 NFL Offensive Player of the Year. Considering the Ravens compiled a mere six rushing attempts in their 17-10 loss against the Chiefs, expect a heavy dose of Henry in this contest.
On the flip side, Kansas City’s most notable loss was L’Jarius Sneed. The All-Pro corner was dealt to the Tennessee Titans after reportedly being disgruntled with receiving the franchise tag. Moreover, there’s uncertainty surrounding second-year wideout Rashee Rice, who could face a suspension from the NFL because of a car accident in Dallas, where Rice fled the scene.
Granted, Patrick Mahomes will have weapons aplenty, regardless. Not only did the Chiefs ink former Ravens wideout Marquise Brown, but first-rounder Xavier Worthy will also provide them with much-needed speed.
The rest of the NFL schedule will be announced on Wednesday, May 15. The other known NFL Week 1 odds are between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers. It’s a rare Friday night affair, kicking off from Brazil.
