NFL Anytime Touchdown Odds: 2 Player Props To Consider Week 1

NFL action is back and with it, our first crack at betting NFL anytime touchdown odds. These player prop lines came out earlier than normal due to the start of the season, so there’s plenty of options. The Baltimore Ravens welcome the Houston Texans at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 10. Ravens odds show Baltimore is a spread favorite and on the moneyline, leading me to take a look at RB JK Dobbins. The New Orleans Saints host the Tennessee Titans at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. Saints odds show New Orleans is a spread favorite, one reason why I’m targeting their emerging, athletic tight end Juwan Johnson. Below I’ll explain why I’m targeting these two players in ATTD Week 1 odds.

J.K. Dobbins ATTD (+110 BetMGM)
Dobbins looked great in five games last season after missing all of 2021 to recover from ACL surgery. He only managed one score, but he averaged 92 yards per game on 6.6 yards a carry. Still, the Ravens’ 24-year-old back is no stranger to the end zone, hitting paydirt seven times over his final six games in 2020.
The Texans should provide Dobbins a warm welcome back as he prepares for a full workload as the Ravens’ clear-cut RB1. Houston allowed the most rushing yards and rushing touchdowns to opposing running backs last season. That’ll happen when you let the other team drive into the red zone 55 times, the 11th most in the league.
Baltimore has finished in the top three in rushing each of the past five seasons. They’ve used a few different players to get there, all of whom ate into Dobbins’ usage when he was healthy. All of them now play elsewhere, leaving Dobbins free to gobble up the carries they left behind. Quarterback Lamar Jackson also averaged 845 yards per season during that time. With new offensive coordinator, Todd Munken expected to spread out the offense, Jackson should steal fewer carries from his backfield moving forward.
The Ravens should still rely heavily on the run against DeMeco Ryans’ squad. They’re a 10-point favorite at home against an awful run defense that didn’t get that much better in the offseason. Head coach Jim Harbaugh and Munken will also want to alleviate pressure on Jackson in his first game back since his Week 12 injury last year.
It’s always possible that Dobbins’ backup, Gus Edwards commandeers the bulk of the team’s goal line carries. Even so, Week 1 should provide the Ravens with plenty of red zone and goal-to-go opportunities to go around. Don’t be surprised if both backs kick their season off with a TD.

The Titans are to win the game in the Superdome this week, as WR DeAndre Hopkins is set to debut for Tennessee.

Juwan Johnson ATTD (+330 at FanDuel)
Johnson posted career highs in receptions, yards, and touchdowns during his third year in the league last season. His seven TDs ranked third among tight ends, tied with the Bears’ Cole Kmet. Even more impressive, it was his first season at tight end after transitioning from wide receiver.
Possibly even more impressive than that, he achieved his success with Andy Dalton and Jameis Winston at quarterback.
With Derek Carr now behind center in the Bayou, Johnson could find the end zone even more often. Despite two down seasons in a row, Carr easily represents the best QB Johnson has ever played with. Just three seasons ago he tossed 27 touchdowns compared to only nine interceptions. Nine of those TDs went to tight end Darren Waller, too.
The Titans’ defense doesn’t appear to have improved since allowing the most passing yards in the NFL. Tennessee also gave up 29 receiving touchdowns, second most behind the Chiefs. Eight of those went to opposing TEs as Tennessee struggled to defend the position all season long, giving up the third most yards to the position.
Also helping Johnson’s case in the early season: Saints running back Alvin Kamara will miss the first three games due to suspension. Former Lions RB Jamaal Williams will try to pick up the slack left in his wake, coming off 17 rushing touchdowns last year.
This matchup is still more ideal for Johnson than Williams, however. The Titans limited opposing RBs to the second-fewest rushing touchdowns and yards last season. Expect the team’s defensive line dominance to continue after it re-signed Jeffery Simmons to an extension in the offseason.
Johnson has an incredibly favorable matchup to open the season and should benefit hugely from a major QB upgrade. Add in Kamara’s early absence and he’s definitely worth a look to reach the end zone at nearly 3-1 odds.
