NFL Week 1 Anytime Touchdown Picks
Arizona Cardinals at Buffalo Bills: RB James Conner Over +150 on Consensus
I’m not too high on James Conner coming into 2024, as I think rookie Trey Benson should push for his job or at least a timeshare at some point. Most likely, Week 1 will feature a reasonably heavy dose of Conner, though.
The Bills could have another solid defense, but a lot of their talent is concentrated in the cornerbacks and the pass rush. It may behoove the Cardinals to attack them on the ground.
That’s where Conner would come in. He carried nearly 60% of the team’s red-zone rushes last year. The Cardinals OL did a solid job in run blocking last year.
Odds on Conner can be found north of +150, and that’s not typically the territory in which featured backs reside.
Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Chargers: RB Gus Edwards Over +185 on Consensus
The Raiders had a rather stout run defense last year after Antonio Pierce took over.
However, they’ll be facing a very powerful Chargers offensive line here, one that Jim Harbaugh has indicated he plans to build around and lean on. Certainly, the Chargers’ personnel moves — thinning out their WR corps while bolstering the line — indicate they’ll attack opponents on the ground.
Ravens import Gus Edwards showed he has a nose for the goal line last year under Jim’s brother, John. He punched in 13 times despite sharing a backfield with a high-volume rushing threat in Lamar Jackson. Edwards is listed as the co-starter with J.K. Dobbins, but Edwards has longer touchdown odds. It’s hard to guess how the backfield work shakes out here, so taking the longer odds makes sense in Week 1.

Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts: WR Nico Collins Over +190 on DraftKings
The Texans have a crowded receiver room, with Tank Dell returning from injury and Buffalo import Stefon Diggs undoubtedly expecting a large share of the targets.
Given the hype around Dell and especially Diggs, I think people have forgotten just how good Nico Collins was last year. The fantasy community isn’t seeing much difference between Collins and Diggs, but I think that’s a mistake. Collins has an established rapport with C.J. Stroud and showcased a far higher level of play down the stretch last year. Given his size, I think he remains the go-to weapon in the red zone here.
Indianapolis does not have a very imposing group of corners outside of nickel man Kenny Moore II. Collins should find some space here in favorable conditions indoors against a beatable secondary.
I think the perception that Diggs is a co-WR1 here is creating value on the Michigan product.
What Are NFL Anytime Touchdown Picks?
If you are new to these wagers, they’re bets on a player to score a touchdown. Keep in mind that quarterbacks must run (or receive) for a touchdown to cash the prop — passing touchdowns do not apply to ATTD odds at NFL betting sites.
Thus, these are primarily the domain of offensive skill players, although you’ll find long odds for defensive and special teams players to score as well. Some NFL betting apps may lump “special teams/defense” into one bet.
Let’s take a look at three options bettors can consider for Week 1.
