What Are NFL ATTD Odds?

Before assessing which skill position players to consider betting on, let’s break down what ATTD betting odds mean. Typically referred to as “ATD odds” or “ATTD odds,” this type of prop has evolved into one of the most popular NFL betting markets.

Given that most players are plus money, involving an exhilarating result, it’s no surprise. Moreover, you’ll win the bet if the specific player scores a rushing, receiving, defensive, or special teams touchdown. Unfortunately, passing scores don’t count for this prop at NFL betting sites. That’s because if you wager on a quarterback to score, he must do so on the ground or via the receiving end.

Now, let’s dissect a few anytime touchdown odds that bettors may wager on with a week’s worth of pizza money.

Commanders WRs Terry McClaurin () & Jahan Dotson ()

The defending NFC champs surrendered the league’s fewest EPA per dropback last season. Many of the same names are still in town, yet they rank league-average in that category this time around. According to the graphic below, their defensive backs have also struggled to limit opposing wideouts’ separation in relation to target rate. Long story short, their corners have been more susceptible despite the three-game sample size.

Enter McClaurin and Dotson, who have underwhelmed themselves. Couple that with Sam Howell’s four-interception performance against the Bills, and there likely isn’t much confidence in the Commanders’ passing attack. Nevertheless, bettors will see all three Buffalo corners on the positive side of the spectrum — led by nickelback Taron Johnson.

They’ve helped propel the Bills’ defense to the second-fewest EPA per dropback allowed. Is their outstanding efficiency partially aided by facing Howell, a banged-up Jimmy Garoppolo, and Zach Wilson? Sure. But I’m willing to buy into this unit for the long term. On the flip side, Philly’s vulnerable numbers come after taking on a pair of inconsistent QBs in Baker Mayfield and Mac Jones.

Expect Washington offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy to put Howell in a position to succeed against this unit. Hence, either McClaurin or Dotson are serviceable options for anytime touchdown odds. You could throw them both into a same-game parlay, too.

Eagles RB D’Andre Swift ()

Lining up behind the league’s top offensive line, Swift ranks behind only the 49ers’ Christian McCaffrey in total rushing yards. Considering his limited role against the Patriots in Week 1, his productivity stands out even more. Although Eagles QB Jalen Hurts essentially operates as their short-yardage back, Swift should continue to see his fair share of opportunities in the red zone.

He’ll take on the Commanders’ league-average run defense at home, so his near-even money anytime touchdown odds don’t come as a surprise. While Kenneth Gainwell still possesses a role in the Eagles’ backfield, Swift should find paydirt for a second time. The only factor against him would be a negative game script, as Gainwell is a more prominent fixture in their passing game.
