Anytime touchdown Odds

To kick off the NFL Week 16 odds board, the 8-6 Los Angeles Chargers host the 9-5 Denver Broncos. Justin Herbert and Co. have lost two straight games, yet they’re Los Angeles Chargers -2.5 (-115) on BetMGM favorites. The total is lined at 41.5 (-109) on BetRivers for this AFC West clash. Let’s assess my favorite anytime touchdown odds on Thursday Night Football.

Despite J.K. Dobbins’ extended absence, Edwards has only found the end zone once in three games as the starter. His price tag doesn’t appear to reflect that, but consider that he was minus odds to score last week.

Granted, the Chargers’ offense has undoubtedly suffered without Dobbins, and it’s up against one of the NFL’s best defenses this time.

During the Broncos’ four-game winning streak, they’ve surrendered the fewest EPA per play and rank atop the league in success rate allowed. They’ve benefited from their fair share of positive variance over that span, tallying three pick-sixes and six fumble recoveries. Their opponents have also posted a 36.4% touchdown clip in the red zone — the second-worst conversation rate across the NFL.

Vance Joseph’s bunch may not suffer any regression in the near future, but the likelihood of that is slim. Look for Edwards to take advantage near the goal line. Consider throwing some pizza money on his odds for an anytime touchdown.

chargers’ defense: Los Angeles Chargers D/ST +450 on DraftKings

I’ll admit, there’s a chance this pick from among TNF anytime touchdown odds is out of spite. As noted, Denver has recorded three defensive scores in its last two games. But there’s a reason behind it as well.

Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix has registered two of his three highest turnover-worthy play rates in his last two contests, resulting in five interceptions. Both the Browns and Colts generate above-average pressure. While the Chargers are not in that tier, I expect Jim Harbaugh to adjust defensively by applying more heat on Nix.

Given this notion, these ATTD odds are worth monitoring. However, I’d only spend couch change on them because defensive ATD odds are volatile.
