Commanders Injury Analysis

Washington G Sam Cosmi went down with a torn ACL against the Lions. He’s done for the year, dealing a serious blow to an offensive line that has massively overachieved. Cosmi came into the season considered the best player on that line, and PFF graded him behind only T Cornelius Lucas.

Backup Trent Scott is an undrafted career journeyman with 23 starts. Best of luck to him blocking Jalen Carter, as he’ll need it.

The other area of concern surrounds a couple of defensive starters.

Bobby Wagner missed the first two practices of the week before logging a limited practice on Friday. Presumably, he’s good to go, and he’s been a formidable piece in the middle of the defense even in his advancing years.

Daron Payne has not yet practiced. With three DNPs, he’s probably an underdog to go. The Commanders do have a bit of depth with first-round rookie Johnny Newton, so they’ll hope he’s ready for the immense challenge of walling off the front from Saquon Barkley.

Eagles Injury Analysis

The Eagles won’t be missing any key pieces, from the looks of things. C Cam Jurgens and TE Dallas Goedert returned to practice on Friday after back-to-back DNPs.

Instead, the concerns here are about QB Jalen Hurts. The one-time Super Bowl starter simply hasn’t looked himself since returning from a concussion, with spotty production that matches the tape. Philadelphia will have to hope another week of recovery has him ready to go, as it’s going to be difficult to continue stringing wins together with this level of play from their signal-caller.
