With a slate of three intriguing games, Friday night makes for a great spot to take advantage of some NCAAF parlay predictions. The conference season is beginning for most teams, which means the games mean more and the surprises are far fewer.

Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech offers plenty of intrigue on its own. Pat Narduzzi and James Franklin have gone up against each other before, when Franklin coached Penn State. Now he’s in the ACC and has Virginia Tech quickly becoming a factor again. Elsewhere, Franklin’s former employer faces a surprising Northwestern squad, and Liberty looks to prove it can take control of Conference USA by handling a wounded Delaware.

Odds for this parlay play come from BetMGM Sportsbook. Here are our best NCAAF parlay predictions for Oct. 2.

NCAAF Parlay Predictions – Best Bets for October 2’s College Football Slate (+2453)

If you like a good running game, you’re probably going to like Friday’s action. Two of the three games involve teams that have made their living on running the football. The third might see one team run the ball out of desperation, as it doesn’t have its starting quarterback at full strength.

In either case, running the ball means a moving clock, which tends to favor defensive football.

NCAAF Parlay Prediction #1 – Liberty-Delaware Under 49.5 Points (-108)

Last year saw the scoreboard operator get a workout, as Liberty bested Delaware 59-30. But this year, the teams are far less offensive-minded.

Delaware’s game against Virginia last week could hardly have gone worse. Losing 42-3 wasn’t the worst of it; the Blue Hens expected to get beat. What they didn’t count on was leaving Charlottesville without a healthy Nick Minicucci. The Delaware quarterback had looked comfortable in four games, but suffered a knee injury and missed the second half against the Cavaliers.

Without him, Delaware looked helpless. The Blue Hens built their offense around his strengths, and they don’t have the pieces in place to succeed if he’s not there. That’s especially true against a Liberty defense that’s making all the right moves in the second half.

Last week, Liberty took a gut-punch before halftime against Coastal Carolina, giving up a touchdown just a minute before the break. But the Flames shut out their hosts in the second half, winning 31-17 after trailing 17-10. In four games, Liberty has allowed just 18 second-half points.

Delaware likely can’t make enough adjustments to keep up. That should make the under the play, even if only 46% of the public is on it.

NCAAF Parlay Prediction #2 – Virginia Tech -2 (-110)

Pittsburgh hasn’t seen a test like this one. The Panthers are 4-0, but they haven’t had to leave western Pennsylvania yet. And not only do they face their first road game of 2026, but they do so in one of the toughest environments in the ACC.

James Franklin has revitalized Virginia Tech football. He’s gotten the Hokies through a pair of gritty road tests at Maryland and Boston College. Virginia Tech has become a solid team, and the atmosphere of a night game at Lane Stadium can rattle the best of college quarterbacks.

These teams do not play close games. The past six meetings between them have all been decided by at least 17 points. This is not a good spot to trust Mason Heintschel in his first road test of 2026.

There’s more good reason not to back the Panthers here. Heintschel has seen two Power 4 opponents in his first four games. He’s been a different quarterback against them. In wins over Miami-Ohio and FCS Bucknell, Heintschel averaged 428 passing yards and combined for 13 touchdowns. Against Central Florida and Syracuse, he threw for a combined 335 yards, with no touchdowns and an interception.

The Virginia Tech defense should keep Heintschel’s stats toward the latter. Only 46% of the public trusts the Hokies, but they’re the stronger side.

NCAAF Parlay Prediction #3 – Pitt-Virginia Tech Under 54.5 (-110)

If Heintschel is likely to struggle to throw the football, Pitt is likely to struggle to score points. When building a parlay that relies on two plays from the same game, it’s important to think about how the outcome you expect is going to happen.

Backing an inconsistent quarterback to go under the total is a natural choice. Virginia Tech counters with a game manager in Ethan Grunkemeyer. Grunkemeyer excels at taking what the defense gives him and not forcing a bad decision. He has thrown 234 straight passes without an interception, FBS’ longest current streak.

His problem is that Pitt’s defense doesn’t allow for a lot of good decisions. It’s fair to question the quality of Pitt’s schedule, but the Panthers have allowed just 34 points this season. Grunkemeyer is likely to score a couple times, but he’s likely to chew up a few yards at a time rather than force a big play.

That leads to the Under, even if the public is counting on the points.

NCAAF Parlay Prediction #4 – Northwestern +3 (-115)

Some of the logic of backing Virginia Tech to cover transfers to Northwestern. This is the grand re-opening of Ryan Field, and the Wildcats have been waiting more than two years to get back into their home. The Northwestern fans are likely to be hyped, in part because this will be the first time since 2023 that many of them have been able to get tickets.

Northwestern spent the past two years at a temporary, makeshift 12,000-seat stadium. The Wildcats now have a 35,000-seat jewel, and Penn State marks the first time in their new home. That matters when emotions are involved.

On the Penn State side, the Nittany Lions could be fragile. They gave away a win at home against Wisconsin, and now they face a potentially intimidating environment. Matt Campbell still hasn’t figured out which pieces go where in his new role, and Penn State isn’t yet where it needs to be.

Northwestern has the atmosphere and is further along. The public thinks the line has come down too far; only 37% is on the Wildcats at +3 after the line opened at +7. But this looks like a good spot for Northwestern to cover and possibly steal a win. They’re +119 at Caesars to do the latter.

NCAAF Parlay Prediction #5 – Penn State-Northwestern Over 45.5 (-110)

Nobody knows for sure how Ryan Field will play, but Northwestern has changed things somewhat. The Wildcats lowered the playing surface 21 feet below ground level, which should mitigate the wind that comes off Lake Michigan. That can lead to higher totals than conditions would expect for the Windy City.

That should hold true here with two teams that haven’t played great defense. The interior of both teams has the same weakness; both are susceptible to plays up the middle. Both teams have the play style and personnel on offense to attack the interior, and the total has fallen to a reasonable number.

Expect both Northwestern quarterback Aidan Chiles and Penn State’s running back trio of James Peoples, Carson Hansen and Quinton Martin Jr. to find gaps in the opposing defense. That should lead to points.

Best Bet: Liberty-Delaware Under 49.5, Virginia Tech -2, Pitt-Virginia Tech Under 54.5, Northwestern +3, Penn State-Northwestern Over 45.5 (+2453, BetMGM)
