NCAAF Boise State vs Oregon: Predictions, How To Watch and Best Bets

Boise State vs. Oregon has been a rough matchup historically for the Ducks. Two years ago, Oregon got all it wanted from Boise, winning 37-34 in Eugene. And that’s the Ducks’ only win ever over Boise State; the Broncos have won the other three matchups.

This should become win no. 2 for the green and gold. Oregon brings back a top-quality offense, and Boise State’s tackling was an issue last year. The Broncos didn’t wrap up very well, allowing nearly five yards per carry. Given that the only top team on the schedule last year was Notre Dame, that doesn’t bode well for trying to stop Oregon’s attack.

The Ducks look loaded on both sides of the ball, which makes the total hard to predict. Boise has done its share of the scoring in past matchups, but the Ducks have nine starters back from a defense that regularly shut down better foes.

The biggest concern here is mainly history. Oregon has never covered against Boise, and the Broncos have a long history of tripping bigger names. If the Ducks can ignore that past, however, they should be able to put plenty of separation between themselves and their visitors.

If you look at Dan Lanning’s history in Oregon, success comes in bunches for his quarterbacks once they get a game or two under their belts. Lanning has used three main quarterbacks in Eugene — Bo Nix, Dillon Gabriel and Dante Moore. Nix and Gabriel both struggled in their first week under center. But by their third game, they had things figured out and the offense got rolling.

Moore needed no adjustment period, because he sat behind Gabriel and learned from the sidelines. When he came on the field, he was ready to go, and Oregon’s results reflected that. The Ducks scored 30 points or more eight times in the regular season, and only Iowa and Indiana held them to 20 or less.

The Broncos are not anywhere near that level. When things went wrong for Boise last season, they went wrong on both sides of the ball. In all five of their losses, they scored 10 points or less. Boise lost all but one of those games by 21 points or more, and Oregon’s better than anyone the Broncos played last season.

Boise should stay in the game for a little while. But Oregon is on another level from where the Broncos project to be this year. Don't be afraid to grab this line at BetMGM.

If Oregon’s expected to cover this number, taking the under represents a lot of faith in the Duck defense. It’s also a reflection of how poor the Boise offense was against good defenses last season. The Broncos faced four top-25 defenses in 2025. They scored a combined 31 points in those games.

That says that Boise is not guaranteed to do its share of the scoring. The Broncos might put up a touchdown or two, but Oregon’s going to have to do the heavy lifting on the total. The worry, of course, is that Oregon gets to the total on its own. But the thinking is that Lanning backs off in the second half and doesn’t feel the need to run the score up. If that’s the case, this should come in under the number.
