NCAAB Iowa State vs Arizona: Predictions, How To Watch and Best Bets
Is Iowa State still the team that rolled to the top of the rankings? The Cyclones are starting to struggle at the worst possible time, having lost three of their past six games. Even more surprising, Iowa State took its first loss of the year on its home floor, falling to Texas Tech at Hilton Coliseum.
And now they’ve got to challenge Arizona, which has looked on another level for much of the season. The Wildcats just throttled Kansas for their fourth straight win, and they’ve only lost one game at McKale Center all season.
Both teams have a lot to play for, as both have their eyes on a No. 1 seed. Arizona is almost certain to get the top seed in the West, while Iowa State is one of several teams fighting for the final No. 1 seed. With Duke locked to the East and Michigan in the Midwest, Iowa State would land the South Region’s top seed if it can get into the No. 4 overall spot.
Doing that would require the kind of road performance Iowa State hasn’t shown in months. The Cyclones have a big road win at Purdue, but they are just 4-4 away from home outside of that game.
Here’s a look at this Big 12 matchup.

Iowa State vs. Arizona Prediction
Best Bet: Arizona -7.5 (FanDuel, -105)
Arizona has changed up how it plays this year, and the results have left visiting teams frustrated with their offensive efforts. The Wildcats rank third nationally in defensive efficiency, and only rival Arizona State managed to break 80 points against Arizona in Tucson. Most teams don’t even get close, as Kansas didn’t.
Iowa State has a history of not showing up on the road in Big 12 play. The Cyclones’ win over Purdue was outstanding in a hostile environment, but their second-best road win is Baylor. Against Big 12 teams that could make the NCAA tournament, Iowa State has gone 0-4 away from home.
The Cyclones tend to be at their best at home, but they struggle to get the offense going away. That does not work against most Big 12 teams, and it certainly won’t work against Arizona. The Cyclones’ closest road loss was by seven at TCU, and Arizona is a much better team than the Horned Frogs. The Wildcats should be ready to make a statement.
Iowa State vs. Arizona Same Game Parlay
- Arizona -7.5
- Under 149.5
- Motejas Krivas Over 8.5 Rebounds
With Arizona playing strong defense at home, the under is likely to be the play here. Both sides’ strengths come when they don’t have the ball, at least in this matchup. Iowa State shoots the ball pretty well and is excellent at rebounding when it doesn’t, but Arizona excels at forcing teams into bad shots and creating rebounding opportunities for its defense.
The Cyclones have matched up well with several Big 12 teams this year, but that’s not the case here. Iowa State’s strengths are almost entirely matched by what Arizona does well, and that’s before adding in the Cyclones’ struggles away from home. Unless Arizona gets its score into the high 80s, which isn’t likely against Iowa State’s defense, the under makes sense.
With missed shots likely to happen at both ends of the floor, Krivas should have little issue getting to his rebounding number. He’s recorded double digit rebounds in his past two home games, and this should make it three straight.
