Spurs Open as 2026-27 NBA Title Favorites Less Than a Day After Knicks Win Championship
It has been less than 24 hours since the New York Knicks won the NBA championship, but odds to win next season’s title have already been unveiled.
FanDuel has released its initial odds for the 2026-27 NBA champion, and despite losing to the Knicks in the NBA Finals this season, the San Antonio Spurs open as the favorite for next season at +250. And conversely, despite New York just winning the championship, the Knicks’ odds for next season tell a pretty interesting story as well, given they are fourth in the NBA in probability to win a title next season at +650.
- San Antonio Spurs: +250
- Oklahoma City Thunder: +260
- Boston Celtics: +550
- New York Knicks: +650
- Indiana Pacers: +2800
- Denver Nuggets: +2800
- Minnesota Timberwolves: +3000
- Los Angeles Lakers: +3000
- Detroit Pistons: +3000
- Cleveland Cavaliers: +3000
- Miami Heat: +4000
- Golden State Warriors: +4500
- Philadelphia 76ers: +5500
- Houston Rockets: +6000
- Los Angeles Clippers: +7500
- Orlando Magic: +8000
- Portland Trail Blazers: +9000
- Charlotte Hornets: +9000
- Toronto Raptors: +10000
- Atlanta Hawks: +10000
- Washington Wizards: +12000
- Phoenix Suns: +12000
- Dallas Mavericks: +12000
- Utah Jazz: +20000
- New Orleans Pelicans: +25000
- Milwaukee Bucks: +25000
- Brooklyn Nets: +25000
- Memphis Grizzlies: +50000
- Chicago Bulls: +70000
- Sacramento Kings: +100000
Unsurprisingly, the Oklahoma City Thunder are right behind the Spurs at +260, and the Boston Celtics are the only team in the Eastern Conference ahead of the Knicks at +550.
So effectively, the story this is telling is that there are two premier teams in each conference. The San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder are neck and neck as the top teams in the West, and the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks are right there as the top two teams in the East.
And what is important to remember is that the offseason still has not officially kicked off. There have been no significant trades, no free agency signings or losses, and the draft is still just over a week away. So a lot is going to change between now and next season.

That is what makes these odds so interesting. The Knicks just won the title, but the early market is already looking ahead and saying San Antonio, Oklahoma City, Boston, and New York are the teams everyone will be chasing next season.
