NBA Player Props Today: 5 Best Bets for Oct. 28

NBA player props today feature a loaded Wednesday slate with several appealing numbers across scoring, rebounding, assists and 3-point markets. Injuries are already beginning to reshape rotations around the league, which can create opportunity for players whose roles are suddenly much larger than they were entering the season.
Jared McCain headlines the card as Oklahoma City deals with significant injuries, while LaMelo Ball could see an expanded playmaking burden with Anthony Edwards sidelined. Wendell Carter Jr., Devin Vassell and Saddiq Bey round out the five picks.
Best NBA Player Props Today for Oct. 28
Wednesday’s card features a mix of role-based bets and matchup plays. McCain and Ball should benefit from increased responsibility, while Carter draws a favorable rebounding matchup. Vassell and Bey give us two 3-point options built around consistent shooting volume.
Jared McCain Over 17.5 Points (-105)
Oklahoma City suddenly needs much more from Jared McCain. The Thunder entered the season with one of the deepest rosters in basketball, but injuries have quickly changed that. Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace are both facing significant absences, while Alex Caruso and Chet Holmgren have also dealt with injuries.
That opens up shots and minutes throughout the rotation.
McCain started against Phoenix on Monday and immediately took advantage, scoring 18 points in 30 minutes while attempting 14 shots. He also knocked down four 3-pointers. That type of volume is exactly what we want when the line is only 17.5 with quality odds.
Dallas has enough defensive talent to make this a tougher matchup than Phoenix, but opportunity matters more than anything here. Oklahoma City simply needs players outside of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Ajay Mitchell to take shots. McCain should be one of them.
Best Bet: Jared McCain over 17.5 points at -105 via BetMGM
Wendell Carter Jr. Over 8.5 Rebounds (-120)
This bet is more about the matchup than believing Wendell Carter Jr. is suddenly going to become one of the NBA’s elite rebounders. Carter is a good rebounder, but Toronto’s frontcourt is the appealing part of the equation.
The Raptors have plenty of size across the wing and forward positions, but they don’t have an overwhelming traditional center rotation that should consistently keep Carter away from the glass. He has also been trending in the right direction.
Carter grabbed seven rebounds in Orlando’s opener, followed it with nine against Minnesota and then reached double digits with 10 against New York. That puts him right around this number even before accounting for the matchup.
He has played at least 29 minutes in every regular-season game so far, giving him enough time to accumulate opportunities. At 8.5 rebounds on most sports betting sites, Carter doesn’t need a monster night. Another solid performance on the glass should put him in position to clear it.
Best Bet: Wendell Carter Jr. over 8.5 rebounds at -120 via DraftKings
LaMelo Ball Over 6.5 Assists (-115)
Anthony Edwards being sidelined for roughly two months changes the entire structure of Minnesota’s offense. LaMelo Ball was already one of the Timberwolves’ primary creators, but now there should be even more responsibility on his shoulders as both a scorer and playmaker.
For this prop, the passing is what matters.
Ball is averaging more than six assists per game early in the season and has always been one of the NBA’s most creative passers. His ability to push the ball in transition, manipulate defenders in pick-and-roll situations and find shooters across the floor gives him plenty of ways to pile up assists. Minnesota still has plenty of capable finishers around him even without Edwards.
The Timberwolves will need Ball to create offense consistently against Golden State, and that should mean plenty of possessions with the ball in his hands. Seven assists is hardly an aggressive expectation for a player with his vision and likely workload.
Best Bet: LaMelo Ball over 6.5 assists at -115 via BetMGM
Devin Vassell Over 1.5 Three-Pointers Made (-180)
Devin Vassell is exactly the type of player worth targeting consistently in 3-point prop markets. The number is low and the volume is reliable.
Vassell has attempted four or five threes in each of San Antonio’s first three regular-season games. He has only made more than one once, but when a player is consistently getting that many attempts, the opportunities to clear a 1.5 line are always going to be there. He is also far better as a shooter than the early percentages suggest.
Utah presents a matchup where San Antonio should be able to generate quality perimeter opportunities, especially with Victor Wembanyama drawing so much defensive attention around the floor. Vassell doesn’t need to get hot to cash this bet. He needs two makes.
For a proven shooter consistently taking four, five or potentially more attempts from deep, that’s a reasonable threshold even at the shorter -180 price on most sports betting apps.
Best Bet: Devin Vassell over 1.5 three-pointers made at -180 via DraftKings

Saddiq Bey is one of the streakiest shooters on Wednesday’s slate, which is exactly what makes plus money appealing here.
When Bey gets hot, he can completely change a game from beyond the arc. The encouraging part is that the volume and results have both been there early this season. Bey has made at least two 3-pointers in each of New Orleans’ first three games, hitting two against Indiana, three against Utah and two more against Denver. He attempted four, five and seven threes in those games.
That means we’re getting even money on a number he has cleared every time so far this season. Denver will present challenges defensively, but Bey doesn’t need a huge scoring night. He simply needs two shots to fall.
Given his willingness to let it fly and his ability to catch fire at any moment, this is a good value play to close out Wednesday’s NBA player props today card.
Best Bet: Saddiq Bey over 1.5 three-pointers made at +100 via BetMGM
