NBA player props for Oct. 23 feature a full Friday slate with several intriguing markets beyond the usual scoring overs. This card includes one points prop, one rebounding play, one assists bet and two defensive stat wagers, giving us five different ways to attack the board.

The early portion of the NBA season can create value while roles and rotations are still settling. Alex Sarr and Alperen Sengun headline the frontcourt picks, Luka Doncic gets an appealing assist number with his revamped Lakers supporting cast, and Moussa Diabate and Toumani Camara provide two defensive options.

Best NBA Player Props for Oct. 23

These five bets span five different games, with each built around a specific matchup or role. Some are based on established strengths, while others take advantage of numbers that look low relative to the opportunity.

Alex Sarr Over 12.5 Points (-113)

Alex Sarr is coming off a quiet scoring performance in Washington’s opener, but this feels like a strong bounce-back spot against Toronto.

The Raptors have plenty of size across the wing and forward positions, but they don’t have the type of dominant interior presence that should scare us away from Sarr. That gives the Wizards big man opportunities to attack mismatches, finish around the rim and score off actions created by Washington’s guards.

Sarr also doesn’t have to be a traditional post player to get there. He can step away from the basket, run the floor and use his length against smaller defenders.

At only 12.5 points on most sports betting sites, the threshold is low enough that a normal offensive night should put him in position to clear it. After a slow opener, this looks like a solid buy-low opportunity.

Best Bet: Alex Sarr over 12.5 points at -113 on BetMGM

Alperen Sengun Over 9.5 Rebounds (-104)

Alperen Sengun against Victor Wembanyama is one of the most interesting frontcourt matchups on Friday’s slate, but this prop is less about trying to beat Wembanyama directly and more about how the Spurs use him.

Wembanyama’s size makes him an elite rebounder, but he also spends plenty of possessions away from the basket. San Antonio uses him as a perimeter threat offensively, while defensively he can roam and challenge shots away from the restricted area.

That can create rebounding opportunities for Sengun, who is naturally aggressive on the glass and comfortable battling for position inside.

The Rockets center is also coming off a double-double in the opener, finishing right at 10 rebounds. Asking him to reach double figures again feels reasonable in a matchup where he should spend plenty of time around the paint.

Best Bet: Alperen Sengun over 9.5 rebounds at -104 on FanDuel

Luka Doncic Over 7.5 Assists (+105)

Luka Doncic over 7.5 assists might be the most appealing number on the card because of the players now surrounding him.

The Lakers have built a roster with several natural play finishers, and Walker Kessler immediately changes what Doncic can do as a pick-and-roll creator. Kessler is a massive lob target who can finish above the rim, giving Doncic an easy pathway to multiple assists every night.

We already saw that connection in the opener. Doncic finished with seven assists, just one short of clearing this line, and repeatedly created easy finishes for Kessler around the basket.

Then there are the shooters and secondary scorers around him. Doncic commands so much defensive attention that teams are constantly forced to send help, opening kick-outs, cuts and opportunities at the rim.

In a potentially more competitive matchup against the Clippers, his minutes and playmaking volume should remain high, plus these are good odds.

Best Bet: Luka Doncic over 7.5 assists at +105 on BetMGM

Moussa Diabate Over 0.5 Steals (-235)

The price is heavy, but Moussa Diabate over half a steal is one of the simplest NBA player props on Friday’s board.

Diabate recorded five steals in Charlotte’s opener. Nobody should expect him to repeat that ridiculous number, but he doesn’t need anything close to it for this bet to cash.

One steal is enough.

His activity level is what makes the wager appealing. Diabate plays with constant energy, covers ground quickly for a big man and is willing to get his hands into passing lanes or attack loose balls. That style naturally creates defensive-stat opportunities.

Atlanta has plenty of ballhandlers and creators who will challenge Charlotte’s defense, giving Diabate chances to disrupt plays throughout the night.

At -235 on most sports betting apps, the upside is limited, but after seeing how active he was in the opener, asking for a single steal feels reasonable.

Best Bet: Moussa Diabate over 0.5 steals at -235 on BetMGM

Toumani Camara Over 0.5 Blocks (+182)

Toumani Camara has become one of the NBA’s most underrated perimeter defenders, and getting plus money on him to record a single block is worth considering.

Camara’s defensive value comes from his versatility. Portland can put him on guards, wings and larger forwards because he has the combination of size, strength and lateral quickness to survive different matchups.

That versatility is important for a block prop.

Camara doesn’t have to spend the night protecting the rim like a traditional center. He can create a block by chasing down a drive, recovering after getting beat, contesting a jumper or using his length against a smaller perimeter player.

Sacramento has several aggressive scorers who will put pressure on Portland’s defense and give Camara opportunities to make plays.

One block is all we need, and +182 gives us the best price among these five bets.

Best Bet: Toumani Camara over 0.5 blocks at +182 on FanDuel
