Expert NBA Picks and Player Props: Best NBA Bets Today Nov. 2

NBA picks and player props for Monday, Nov. 2, start with a Cleveland line that looks far too short against a decimated Oklahoma City roster. Boston offers an intriguing upset opportunity in Houston, while Toronto gets a Clippers team that has struggled out of the gate.
The player props follow a similar approach: back talented players at numbers I’m comfortable asking them to clear. Here are my three game picks and three props for Monday’s slate.
Best NBA Picks and Player Props Today Nov. 2
The game portion of these NBA picks and player props includes two road teams and one home favorite, with the biggest disconnect in the NBA odds coming between Cleveland and Oklahoma City’s identical records.
NBA Best Bet #1: Cavaliers -4.5 vs. Thunder (-107)
Cleveland and Oklahoma City both enter at 4-2. That is super misleading when you look at what these teams actually have available.
The Thunder are decimated. Jalen Williams, Cason Wallace, and Chet Holmgren are sidelined, leaving three starters unavailable. Oklahoma City’s medical updates explain the scale of those losses.
The absences extend into the bench, and the emotional toll of everything happening this early in the season matters to me, too. This team has barely had time to process one setback before another arrives.
I don’t blame the Thunder for being in this position. In my opinion, they put together the best roster in basketball. Injuries have depleted it.
Cleveland is a good team, and this game is in Cleveland. Asking the Cavaliers to win by five against this version of Oklahoma City feels reasonable. Four and a half is a crazy line in my opinion.
Prediction: Cavaliers -4.5 at -107 via DraftKings
NBA Best Bet #2: Celtics Moneyline vs. Rockets (+165)
Houston is 6-1 and arguably the best team in the NBA at this point. Boston enters at 5-1 following Sunday’s win in Orlando, so this is a meeting between two teams playing well that have championship aspirations.
Still, the Celtics are a little underrated, and +165 is super appealing.
The matchup starts with Boston’s big wings. Houston generally beats teams with size on the wings, but the Celtics have the personnel to combat that. Boston can meet that physical challenge without automatically being overwhelmed by it.
That is why I like the upset opportunity on the moneyline. Houston’s size is a major advantage against plenty of opponents, but I don’t see the same mismatch here.
Transparently, I think the Celtics have the recipe to win a title this year. They may continue to be undervalued early in the season, and this is a spot where I’m willing to back that belief.
Prediction: Celtics Moneyline at +165 via BetMGM

The Clippers are not a very good team right now, and Toronto is the better team on paper.
The updated matchup records put the Raptors at 3-3 and Los Angeles at 1-5 after both teams lost Sunday. That leaves both sides playing the second night of a back-to-back.
Toronto has its own injury issues, including Kawhi Leonard being out. That matters, but I still like the Raptors’ available roster more than what the Clippers are putting on the floor.
Playing in Los Angeles gives the Clippers home-court advantage. It doesn’t change my opinion about the talent gap enough to make 5.5 points feel like a big number.
The Raptors don’t need to be completely healthy for me to like them here. Against this opponent, I’m comfortable laying the points at -105.
Prediction: Raptors -5.5 at -105 via DraftKings
Best NBA Player Props Today Nov. 2
The player portion of these NBA picks and player props targets Cade Cunningham’s scoring, Fred VanVleet’s playmaking, and Luka Dončić’s rebounding.
NBA Player Prop #1: Cade Cunningham Over 23.5 Points (-112)
Cunningham is a superstar, and 23.5 points on most sports betting sites feels low for a player with his ability against Charlotte as someone in the MVP conversation.
He enters averaging 22.2 points per game. The line is above that early average, but my confidence comes from the player and this matchup.
I don’t view the Hornets’ defense as a reason to shy away from asking Cunningham to score 24. He has the size and skill to create offense, and Detroit can put the ball in his hands when it needs a basket.
He already scored 30 against Charlotte last Wednesday. That doesn’t guarantee a repeat, but it only makes 23.5 more appealing to me in the rematch.
At -112, I’m backing Cunningham to clear a number I think is very manageable.
Prediction: Cade Cunningham Over 23.5 Points at -112 via DraftKings
NBA Player Prop #2: Fred VanVleet Over 5.5 Assists (-115)
VanVleet is a floor maestro. As Houston’s primary point guard, he has the responsibility and ability to keep this offense organized.
We need six assists, and I like that bar for him against Boston.
VanVleet is averaging 6.4 assists through five appearances, although he has cleared this threshold in only two of them. The early results haven’t made this an automatic Over.
That doesn’t change the role I’m backing. Houston has talented scorers around him, and VanVleet knows how to get teammates the ball where they can do something with it.
I like Boston to win, but that doesn’t require Houston’s offense to disappear. A competitive game can still give VanVleet plenty of opportunities to facilitate.
Six assists from a point guard with his command of an offense is a number I’m comfortable targeting.
Prediction: Fred VanVleet Over 5.5 Assists at -115 via BetMGM
NBA Player Prop #3: Luka Dončić Over 7.5 Rebounds (+116)
Anytime I can get plus money on Dončić with a single-digit rebound total, I’m interested.
He’s a triple-double machine, and eight rebounds against Miami is certainly within his capabilities. This is a bet on how involved he can be across the entire game.
Dončić just collected 15 rebounds against Toronto on Sunday. One performance doesn’t guarantee the next, but it shows the rebounding upside we’re getting at this price.
The Lakers are on a back-to-back, making his availability worth checking before tipoff. Assuming he plays his usual role, I like the opportunity.
We don’t need a triple-double or even double-digit rebounds. Eight gets it done, and +116 on most sports betting apps makes that an appealing way to back Luka against the Heat.
Prediction: Luka Dončić Over 7.5 Rebounds at +116 via BetMGM
