Best NBA Player Props Today, 05/13: Will Cavaliers' Mitchell Stay Hot Offensively?
We’ve got just one game on the slate on the NBA hardwood for Wednesday as the postseason’s second round continues. It’s a pivotal Game 5 of an Eastern Conference semifinal series in the Motor City. Meanwhile, one team from each conference, the Knicks and Thunder, already advanced to their respective conference finals.
Let’s take a spin around the league and see what’s on tap while identifying the best NBA bets today.
NBA Schedule
- Cavaliers @ Pistons, 8 pm ET (Series Tied 2-2)
Best NBA Bets Today – Player Props
Donovan Mitchell, Cavaliers Over 26.5 Points (-120, BetMGM)
Mitchell is on a roll at the moment. He’s averaging 33 points per game in this series and put up at least 31 in three straight contests. Mitchell hung 43 in the Game 4 win for Cleveland that squared the series. Thirty-nine of those points came in the second half, which proved critical in the Cavaliers’ victory. It’s safe to say that Mitchell is the most reliable scoring option for the Cavaliers. Expect for him to be the focal point of the Cavaliers’ offense and put up 30-plus points again.
Jarrett Allen, Cavaliers Under 7.5 Rebounds (-135, BetMGM)
Allen had a couple big games on the glass in the opening round against the Raptors. However, in this series, he is a non-entity on the glass. Allen averages just 4.8 boards a night in this series. He pulled down more than five boards just once in four games. That kind of production doesn’t intimidate anyone. Until Allen hits the boards with some aggressiveness, don’t expect much from him. Therefore, roll with the under on this one.
Tobias Harris, Pistons Over 18.5 Points (-108, FanDuel)
Harris went over this number in eight straight playoff games before finishing with 16 in Game 4. After a slow start to the postseason, he put up at least 20 points eight times. Harris is crucial for the Pistons as Cade Cunningham can’t shoulder the load on his own. He’s stepped right in as the #2 scoring option for the Pistons. Harris forces Cleveland to adjust their defensive strategy. He’s capable of getting second chance points as well as looks in the flow of the offense. Harris puts up 20-plus points in a return to form, pushing over the total.

Pistons -3.5 (FanDuel, -112)
Cleveland is a stellar 6-0 at home in the playoffs but they are 0-5 on the road. In addition, the Cavaliers are 0-5 ATS as the visiting team in the playoffs entering this game. Mitchell exploded in the second half of Game 4, putting up 39 points, helping Cleveland rally to even the series. Detroit rebounded after dropping Games 3 and 4 in Orlando during the first round by winning the next three contests. The Pistons took care of business at home in the first two games of the set. Until Cleveland proves they can win as the visiting team, fade them accordingly. Therefore, give the points and take the Pistons here.
Cavaliers vs. Pistons Under 212.5 (BetMGM, -110)
This one is a bit tricky as the total is tied to the result. In the first two games, both Detroit victories, the games fell under the number. Meanwhile, in Games 3 and 4, both Cleveland triumphs, the games ended over the number. Now, Game 4 ended with just 215 points, barely edging past the number set for this one. The Pistons lead the postseason in scoring defense and held Cleveland to 101 and 97 points in Detroit. In addition, Detroit isn’t a high-scoring offense unit. Given how we saw things unfold in Games 1 and 2, take the under in this contest.
