Best NBA Player Props Today, 05/02: Can Embiid Continue To Facilitate for the 76ers?
We’ve got just one game on the slate on the NBA hardwood for Saturday as the postseason’s first round winds down. Entering Friday night, the top two teams in the Western Conference had advanced out of the opening round. Oklahoma City swept Phoenix while San Antonio dispatched the Trail Blazers in five games after winning Tuesday night. The Knicks and Timberwolves punched their tickets to the conference semifinals Thursday night. This contest is the first Game 7 of the postseason this year.
Let’s take a spin around the league and see what’s on tap while identifying the best NBA bets today.
NBA Schedule
- 76ers @ Celtics, 7:30 pm ET (Series Tied 3-3)
Best NBA Bets Today – Player Props
Payton Pritchard, Celtics Over 12.5 Points (-115, BetMGM)
Pritchard has stepped up his game this season and that’s carried over to the postseason. After the dynamic duo of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, he’s next on the team in scoring. Pritchard averages 14.8 ppg in 31 minutes a night in the series. He’s been an anchor of the second unit and has picked up the slack created by Derrick White’s slump. Pritchard went over this number in all three games in Philadelphia. He had 15 points in Game 3, 32 points in Game 4 and 14 in Game 6. On the flip side, he scored 12, 4 and 12 points at home. If Boston is to advance, Pritchard needs to step up here.
Joel Embiid, 76ers Over 4.5 Assists (-115, BetMGM)
Embiid has turned things around for the 76ers, especially in the last two games. Boston’s depth, not to mention talent, at the center position is no match for Embiid. Neemias Queta has averaged four fouls a night in 19.8 minutes of action. Nikola Vucevic is 35 and isn’t a great defender by any stretch. Much like the Knicks with Karl-Anthony Towns, the 76ers have had success running the offense through Embiid. He has dished out 22 dimes in three games, with no fewer than six in a contest. Embiid ends up over the number again here.
Kelly Oubre Jr., 76ers Over 8.5 Points (-125, Fanatics)
Oubre Jr. has been a tertiary option on the offensive end of the floor. He averages 9.8 points per game in the series. Oubre Jr. comes in off a 14-point showing in Game 6 of the series, hitting six of 11 from the floor. He has hit the double-digit mark in eight of his last 10 games. That includes four of the six games in the series. Oubre Jr. is going to get some good looks and easy buckets as the Celtics try to take Embiid out of the equation. He should be able to end up over the number in this contest as well.

76ers +7.5 (FanDuel, -106)
This series goes the distance and home court advantage, such that it is, isn’t a factor here. The return of Embiid has been beneficial for the 76ers but this game is going to hinge on Boston’s three-point shooting. In the series, Boston has hit 20 threes a game on 41.7% shooting from beyond the arc in their three wins. Meanwhile, those numbers drop to 12 triples on 27.7% shooting in their three losses. Clearly, Philadelphia found something that worked in Games 5 and 6 to stifle the perimeter shooting of the Celtics. In the end, Boston is still the better team and they claw out a win, though the 76ers cover for the fifth time in the series.
76ers vs. Celtics Under 206.5 (DraftKings, -110)
One thing we’ve seen in this series is that defense has controlled long stretches. The losing squad has scored under 100 points in five of the six games in this series. Meanwhile, in the sixth contest, the losing team scored exactly 100 points. Five of the six games have stayed under the total this series. Including the regular season matchups, eight of the 10 meetings this season have fallen under the number. While the total has dropped starkly from the previous games in the series, one has to think nerves are a factor here. Therefore, lean toward the under in this contest.
