Meanwhile, the loser hosts the winner of the Miami/Charlotte matchup for a shot at the 8 seed. Let’s break down this Magic vs. 76ers matchup.
Orlando Trying to Get Back in Win Column
Orlando saw their five-game win streak snapped as they fell to a Boston team with nothing to play for. The Magic finished the regular season 45-37 and stood second in the Southeast Division, one game behind the Hawks for the top spot. Their loss proved critical as it knocked them down to the eight seed and on the road for this matchup.

Desmond Bane (20.1 points) is a good third option.

The Magic stand 24th in the league in threes per game as they hit 11.7 triples a night while they are 27th in three-point shooting by hitting 34.3% from beyond the arc. Magic vs. 76ers Prediction
Philadelphia would have been a solid favorite here if Embiid was certain to play. As it stands, after his appendectomy last week, there is no clear timetable for him to return to basketball activities. Philadelphia was a rather pedestrian 23-18 at home in the regular season and has to prove they can win a big game without Embiid. Orlando put up a disappointing showing in their regular season finale against Boston. With that said, the Magic had won five straight before that contest. Perhaps more importantly, Orlando is healthy with the return of Franz Wagner. If he can step up, Orlando comes up with the road win here.
Our Prediction: Magic +2 (FanDuel, -110)
Magic vs. 76ers Same Game Parlay
- Magic +110 (FanDuel)
- Franz Wagner (Magic) Over 17.5 Points (-125, BetMGM)
- Paul George (76ers) Over 2.5 Three-Pointers (-155, Fanatics)
Odds: +522
We’ve discussed the rationale for backing Orlando in this contest above. Wagner looks good since coming back from missing seven weeks of action. He has scored at least 17 points in four of the six games he’s played in the month of April. Wagner should get some good looks as the 76ers are missing their best interior defender in Embiid. It’s asking a lot for George and Kelly Oubre Jr. to defend him, especially since George is going to be relied on for offensive production. Speaking of George, he’s drained at least three triples in eight of his last 10 games. Seeing him knock down three three-pointers here is easily attainable.
