2026 NBA Draft: Three Franchise-Altering Talents Land in New Homes
The 2026 NBA Draft is projected to be one of the best in recent history when it comes to players in this class making their mark on the league.
And that starts with the three prospects at the top.
AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson and Cameron Boozer entered the night of the draft as the clear headliners of the class. All three are viewed as superstar-caliber talents if they’re able to reach their peaks, and that’s what makes this draft feel like one of the best in the last decade, if not the best.
On Tuesday night, each of those three players came off the board first, second and third overall.
Dybantsa went No. 1 overall to the Washington Wizards. Peterson went No. 2 to the Utah Jazz. Boozer went No. 3 to the Memphis Grizzlies. Just like that, three franchises landed players they hope can change the entire direction of their organizations.
Draft night is exciting on its own, but now everything starts to shift toward what comes next. NBA Summer League will give fans their first look at these rookies in new uniforms. Then comes training camp, preseason and eventually the regular season, when the evaluation really begins.
And while the top three picks are the story, this class is much deeper than that.
The 2026 NBA Draft is expected to produce real talent throughout the first round and beyond. That matters in a league already loaded with young players good enough to shape the future of the sport. The next wave of NBA talent officially arrived Tuesday night, and it could make the league even more competitive moving forward.
The first round is now complete, with the second round set for Wednesday. But the big picture is already clear.
Teams are starting to take shape. Young cores are being formed. And the rest of the offseason market, from trades to free agency, will be influenced by what happened at the top of this draft.
