Jets Win Defensive Battle

The Jets’ defense has allowed over 30 points per game through three weeks, but context matters — two of those matchups came against undefeated teams. That has inflated the overall numbers, and this unit is better than the raw stats show. Against Miami, the matchup tilts toward New York’s defensive strengths. The Jets can win this game by limiting explosive plays, controlling tempo and leaning on the run game. That naturally pairs with the under, since New York’s offense isn’t necessarily built to win shootouts. Getting Justin Fields back gives them a spark, but both teams prefer a grind-it-out style, which fits a lower-scoring MNF script in the front half of the doubleheader.

After the first game of MNF comes to an end, the Broncos will take on the Bengals for another exciting contest. Cincinnati is without Joe Burrow, which will make it tough against a talented Denver team.

Even without Joe Burrow, the Bengals’ offense still runs through Ja’Marr Chase. With Jake Browning struggling last week, expect Cincinnati to scheme ways to get Chase more involved early and often. He’s their best chance to move the ball, and he’s always a scoring threat when targeted in the red zone. On the other side, Bo Nix has yet to clear 218 passing yards this season, but he has the tools and the gunslinger mentality to get there. He eclipsed 218 passing yards in roughly half of his games as a rookie, so there’s no question the ability is there and today is a likely day to break the early trend. The matchup helps, too, as Cincinnati’s secondary has allowed big plays through the air, leading to over 240 yards allowed per game.

The Bengals were blown out 48-10 by Minnesota last week, but that result was more about turnovers than a lack of talent. Expect a self-correction here. Cincinnati may not win outright, but they have enough playmakers to keep the game close and cover the 7.5-point spread. With two offenses that prefer to move the ball through the air, the pace sets up for more points. After what projects as a grind-it-out first MNF game, this one could flip the script with a much higher total. Combining Cincinnati to cover with the over offers strong value in a game that should be competitive and feature plenty of scoring.
