The Lionel Messi era in Miami has a chance to pay itself off with an MLS Cup title as Inter Miami host Bayern Munich legend Thomas Müller and the Vancouver Whitecaps at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

It will be extremely difficult to stop Inter Miami, who have scored an incredible 13 goals in their last three playoff matches en route to the final. Vancouver will be extremely confident they can take care of business, having beaten Inter Miami 5-1 over two legs in the CONCACAF Champions Cup semi-finals before ultimately falling to Cruz Azul in the final.

Müller is ready for Messi and Miami, and believes it's a perfect final to showcase the league's growth.

"I think this match is great," Müller said. "I know you guys and the media and also MLS, it makes sense also to make a point with Messi and with myself and the bigger names.

"I think it's about two teams with a very attractive and good-looking playing style. It's the perfect final in my opinion. I appreciate being part of it."

Many believe Inter Miami have way too much momentum and Vancouver will be powerless to stop them. In fact, many people are considering the current, healthy version of Inter Miami as the best team that have ever played in Major League Soccer.

Celta Vigo loanee Tadeo Allende has been particularly unbeatable in the 2025 MLS Cup playoffs, contributing an eye-watering eight goals and two assists in five playoff matches thus far.

Müller knows how to stop a powerful Messi-led team, having beaten Barcelona 8-2 during the 2019-20 Champions League. He also helped Germany knock Argentina out of the World Cup twice, 4-0 in the 2010 World Cup quarterfinals and 1-0 in the 2014 World Cup final.

Though Müller has an extremely talented squad around him, this is an entirely new challenge for him. He won't let his past successes affect him on Saturday.

"When I look back in the past I feel very comfortable with that because that's already in the books," Müller said. "And I had a lot of great experience in these games with my teams, so it was fun. But it doesn't really matter for Saturday.
