Red Sox Extend Winning Streak to 14 Games With Dramatic Win Over Orioles

The Boston Red Sox are officially the hottest team in baseball.

And with a dramatic 6-5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night, which ended the Orioles’ own seven-game winning streak, Boston has now won 14 straight games.

The game was tied at five in the bottom of the eighth inning before Caleb Durbin delivered a huge go-ahead solo home run over the Green Monster with two outs, giving Boston the lead that carried it the rest of the way.

And the winning streak is now the second-longest in Red Sox franchise history, which is even more impressive considering where this team was before the run began.

Boston was well below .500 not long ago and seemingly just drifting out of the postseason picture. But this has now completely changed the outlook of its season, and the Red Sox are right back in the mix.

And again, this win came against a Baltimore team that was one of the hottest teams in baseball in its own right and playing phenomenal baseball.

But in the end, Boston found another way to win and continues this remarkable streak.

The Red Sox have won blowouts and close games, and they’ve had guys up and down the lineup deliver in big moments. Monday night was another example, with Durbin delivering the biggest swing of the night before Aroldis Chapman closed the door in the ninth.

And at this point, the Red Sox have gone beyond simply salvaging their season.
