Jose Soriano over 5.5 strikeouts at -142 on FanDuel Sportsbook is my top MLB bet today as the Los Angeles Angels take on the Tampa Bay Rays.

Soriano has transformed into one of the more electric starting pitchers in baseball this season. Tampa Bay is striking out just 20.5% of the time against right-handed pitching in 2026, but Soriano's under-the-hood stuff makes me comfortable here.

Soriano ranks in the 93rd percentile in whiff rate, is striking hitters out at a 25% clip, and carries a chase rate well above league average. That's a dramatic leap from where he's been in the past. There's also a recent trend working in his favor. The Rays have the ninth-highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching in baseball since June 1. Put it all together, and Soriano clearing six strikeouts feels extremely achievable on Saturday.

MLB Player Props Today: Tarik Skubal Under 5.5 Strikeouts

Tarik Skubal under 5.5 strikeouts at -128 is another one of my favorite MLB player props today.

Skubal is unbelievable, and he's more than capable of striking out a ton of hitters in a limited pitch count. But context matters here. In his most recent rehab start in High-A ball, Skubal threw just 54 pitches. I understand he's pitched plenty in the majors this season before his injury stint. But if his last outing was capped at 54 pitches, what's the realistic ceiling for Saturday? Probably somewhere in the 70s.

I haven't seen any concrete limitations announced, but it's just common sense that he'll be on something of a leash. Meanwhile, Cleveland is stingy in the strikeout department — they own the ninth-lowest strikeout rate against left-handed pitching this season. This isn't an easy matchup to pile up strikeouts. I'll take the under.

Home Run Picks Today: Yordan Alvarez

Now, for my MLB home run picks today! We're heading to Kauffman Stadium, where the Houston Astros visit the Kansas City Royals.

Yordan Alvarez squares off against Noah Cameron, who has been much improved from where he started the season. However, he still grades at or below league average in several key metrics. According to Baseball Savant, Cameron ranks below the MLB average in ground-ball rate allowed, hard-hit rate, and barrel rate.

Frankly, though, it might not matter who Alvarez is facing right now. He's crushing the entire league with 24 home runs on the season, and he's been particularly lethal against lefties, with eight home runs in just 73 at-bats against left-handed pitching — a fantastic ratio against same-handed arms.

Conditions also cooperate on Saturday: temperatures should sit in the mid-to-high 70s at Kauffman with roughly an 8-mph breeze blowing straight out. Getting Alvarez at +270 on FanDuel is a treat — honestly, he should be priced closer to 2-to-1 at this point.
