MLB Today’s Best Bets for 08/03: Home Run Picks & Top Player Props

It’s the third day of August and by the time these games get underway, the trade deadline is in the rear view mirror. We’ve got an eight-game slate Monday, starting at 6:40 pm ET when the Nationals open a NL East set in the City of Brotherly Love against the Phillies. The schedule gives plenty of opportunities to find the best MLB bets today, including the top home run props. Jake Cronenworth, Padres Over 1.5 Total Bases (+135, Fanatics)

It’s been a rough season for Cronenworth this year. He entered Sunday hitting .215 with five doubles, three homers and 14 RBI over 191 at-bats on the year. Cronenworth had a decent July, hitting .294 with three doubles, two homers and nine RBI in 85 at-bats. He missed substantial time with a concussion. Cronenworth gets a crack at the Diamondbacks’ Brandon Pfaadt in the opener of a set between NL West foes and that bodes favorably for him. He is 11 of 24 (.458) with a double and three RBI in his career against Pfaadt entering this contest. He is in good shape to cash here.

Logan Webb, Giants Over 18.5 Outs Recorded (+110, Fanatics)

While the Giants are floundering, sitting 47-64 on the year entering Sunday and well out of the playoff picture, Webb keeps turning in solid numbers. He is a pedestrian 6-7 with a 3.93 ERA over 119 innings of work this year, though some of that is chalked up to an underachieving Giants squad. What Webb does deliver is quality outings. He turned in a 0.71 ERA in June, allowing just four runs (three earned) over 38 innings of work. Webb struggled to a 6.59 ERA in five July starts. However, he still provided length, throwing 28.2 innings in that span. Webb has thrown at least six innings in nine of his last 10 starts. In this one, he faces a Texas team that struggles to score, in a park that is pitcher friendly this season. Therefore, he goes at least six frames here.

Cam Schlittler, Yankees Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-118, Betr)

Schlittler is a front of the rotation guy for the Yankees this season. He is 10-6 with a 2.04 ERA, a 0.91 WHIP, 26 walks and 165 strikeouts over 136.2 innings of work on the year. Schlittler comes in off 6.1 innings against the White Sox where he allowed one run on two hits with one walk and eight strikeouts. No active player on the Cardinals has faced Schlittler in his major league career. St. Louis strikes out at the fourth-lowest rate in the majors, whiffing 7.70 times per nine innings. That number does climb to 8.43 whiffs on the road, however. Meanwhile, Schlittler entered Sunday fifth in the majors in strikeouts. He racks them up again here.

Home Run Picks Today (08/03):

CJ Abrams, Nationals (+375, DraftKings)

Abrams has toiled in relative anonymity as the Nationals struggled for most of his tenure. This season, he has solid numbers across the board and is part of a revitalized Washington lineup. He entered Sunday hitting .287 with 21 doubles, two triples, 28 homers and 85 RBI plus 19 steals on the year. Being division rivals with the Phillies gives Washington hitters plenty of opportunities to face pitchers and that works for Abrams here. Aaron Nola is mediocre at best this season, going 3-9 with a 5.61 ERA this year. In addition, opposing hitters have a .279/.335/.515 slash line against him this season. Abrams is six of 25 (.240) lifetime against Nola with one homer and two RBI entering this matchup. Meanwhile, Nola allowed 26 homers already this season. Abrams. takes him deep here.

Junior Caminero, Rays (+266, DraftKings)

Caminero is having a stellar season for the Rays in 2026. He enters this contest with a .282 average, 18 doubles, 30 homers and 66 RBI on the year. That includes a .264 mark with 12 homers in 208 at-bats on the road this season. In addition, Caminero gets the advantage of facing a Rockies’ team that entered Sunday worst in the majors by allowing 5.72 runs per game. That number climbs to 6.13 runs per game at Coors Field. Meanwhile, Caminero is three of six lifetime against Rockies’ starter Michael Lorenzen. Furthermore, all three hits (one double, two homers) went for extra bases. Look for him to take Lorenzen yard again in this contest.
