It’s the first day of August and with the trade deadline looming, we’ve got a full 15-game slate Saturday. We have afternoon baseball, starting at 3:07 pm ET when the Cardinals continue an interleague set with the Blue Jays north of the border. The schedule gives plenty of opportunities to find the best MLB bets today, including the top home run props. Michael Harris II, Braves Over 1.5 Total Bases (+125, HardRock)

Harris II continues to rake for the Braves as a solid piece in their lineup. He entered Friday hitting .290 with 21 doubles, 19 homers and 61 RBI on the season. Harris II had hits in six of his last 10 games entering that contest. In addition, he had 14 total bases in that span, going over this prop in four of those contests. Miles Mikolas takes the hill for the Nationals and he’s been awful, posting a 3-7 mark with a 5.65 ERA over 102 innings of work. Meanwhile, Harris II is five of 13 with a double against Mikolas in his career. He’s hitting .279 with eight homers and 32 RBI at home on the year. Opposing hitters have a .283/.315/.499 slash line against Mikolas this season. With Mikolas struggling, look for Harris II to take advantage and cash this prop.

Ian Happ, Cubs Over 0.5 Total Bases (-110, Fanatics)

New York took the opening game of the series Friday afternoon, winning 2-0 in a fast-paced, well-pitched game on both sides. Max Fried gets the ball for the Yankees here for his 13th start of the year. The weather forecast projects game-time temperature in the high-60s with the winds blowing in between 10 and 15 miles per hour. While Happ has been inconsistent at best this season, posting a .219 average with 18 homers and 48 RBI on the year, he hits Fried well. He is seven of 11 (.636) against Fried in his career. In addition, he has a double, two homers and three RBI against him. Happ has a chance to cash in here, even with the wind blowing in at Wrigley. If you’re feeling bold, you can find over 1.5 total bases for plus money.

Logan Gilbert, Mariners Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-110, Fanatics)

Giibert had a slow start to the year but is rounding into form lately. He’s 3-0 in his last five starts and the Mariners have won all five. In addition, he is 8-6 with a 3.44 ERA, a 0.995 WHIP, 27 walks and 133 strikeouts over 125.2 innings of work. Gilbert has 19 whiffs over 18.1 innings in his last three starts. Current Twins hitters have a .157 average (11 of 70) against Gilbert in his career. Meanwhile, he has recorded 19 strikeouts (27.1%) of the hitters that faced him. Gilbert has at least seven punchouts in 10 of his 21 starts and six in three others. Furthermore, Minnesota fans more than two additional times a game on the road (9.15) than at home (7.13) this season. Look for him to take advantage of the Twins here to go over the number.

Home Run Picks Today (08/01):

James Wood, Nationals (+300, FanDuel)

Wood is in the midst of a solid season for the Nationals. He entered Friday’s matchup with the Braves with a .270 average, 26 doubles, 30 homers, 72 RBI and 17 steals. In addition, he has 89 walks to his credit. Sure, he strikes out a fair amount (148 Ks) but exactly half (57 of 114) of his hits are for extra bases. Temperatures at first pitch are expected to be around 80 degrees with light (five to 10 miles per hour) winds. Wood has three homers against the Braves this season. In addition, he is two of three in his career against Reynaldo Lopez. Furthermore, both those hits are for extra bases as he has a double and a homer. Wood has the power to take Lopez deep and is worth a flier here.

Yordan Alvarez, Astros (+255, FanDuel)

It’s a big series between the Lone Star State rivals in Houston this weekend with the top two teams in a watered-down AL West battling. Alvarez continues to do damage as he’s in the thick of a race for the Triple Crown. He entered Friday’s opener hitting .321 with 20 doubles, 35 homers and 80 RBI on the year. In addition, Alvarez has a sizzling .375 average with 15 doubles, 19 homers and 44 RBI in 192 at-bats at Daikin Park this year. When it comes to facing Jacob deGrom, he has a good track record. For his career, Alvarez is five of nine (.556) against deGrom. Furthermore, he has three solo homers to his credit among those five hits. Look for him to rake again here to cash the prop.
