MLB Today’s Best Bets for 06/09: Home Run Picks & Top Player Props

Randy Arozarena, Mariners Over 1.5 Total Bases (+105, FanDuel)

Arozarena picked up three hits in the Mariners’s 6-3 win in their series opener with the Orio\es in Charm City Monday night. That boosted his average to .293 with 18 doubles, a triple, six homers and 30 RBI for the season. As good as Trevor Rogers was last season, he’s been awful this year for the Orioles. Rogers is 3-6 with a 6.29 ERA and opposing hitters own a .286/.343/.482 slash line against him. Right-handed hitters have a .310/.364/.512 slash line with seven homers in 168 at-bats this season. Arozarena has at least two bags in three of his last four games. He takes advantage of Rogers to make it four out of five.

Logan Gilbert Over 6.5 Strikeouts (+122, FanDuel)

Gilbert comes into this one looking to pick up his fifth win of the season. He enters this start 4-4 with a 3.79 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP, 17 walks and 77 strikeouts over 73.2 innings of work on the year. Gilbert has at least six strikeouts in eight of his 13 starts on the year. Five of those starts saw him pick up at least seven whiffs. In three career starts against the Orioles spanning 18.2 innings of work, Gilbert has 17 strikeouts. The Orioles strike out at the sixth-highest rate in the majors (8.94 per game) this season. Meanwhile, Gilbert has a 25.4% strikeout rate against the Orioles in his three starts against them. He should get seven or eight here against a free-swinging Baltimore lineup.

Jose Ramirez, Guardians Over 1.5 Total Bases (+100, Fanatics)

Ramirez was one for four with a run scored in Cleveland’s 7-5, 10-inning, loss to the Yankees Monday night at home. With Gerrit Cole on the bump for the Yankees Tuesday, you might wonder why we would back Ramirez. While the rest of the current Guardians are a combined 12 of 60 (.200) against Cole, Ramirez has fared well against him in his career. Ramirez is a healthy 14 of 39 (.359) with three doubles, a triple, three homers and eight RBI against Cole. If anyone for Cleveland is going to ding Cole, you’d have to factor in the anchor of the Guardians’ lineup. He’s beaten this prop in half of his last 10 games. Ramirez is in good shape to do it again.

Pete Crow-Armstrong, Cubs (+250, Fanatics)

After a slow start to the year, Crow-Armstrong has a hot bat at the moment. In the last 10 games, he is 18 for 43 (.419) with a pair of four-hit games in that span. Crow-Armstrong has two doubles, five home runs, eight RBI and a pair of stolen bases in the last 10 games. For the year, he has eight doubles, two triples, 11 home runs, 32 RBI and 14 steals in 19 attempts. With the power surge Crow-Armstrong has shown in the last couple of weeks, you’d consider his power stroke. Throw in that the Cubs are playing at Coors Field and that makes things even more enticing. Crow-Armstrong is just two of 28 at Coors Field in his career but the two hits are home runs.

Ronald Acuna Jr, Braves (+390, Fanatics)

Acuna Jr. seemingly located his power stroke of late, which is good for the Braves. After hitting just two homers in his first 42 games of the year, he has five in his last 10 contests. Atlanta gets a shot at Erick Fedde, who is 1-5 with a 4.94 ERA and a 1.406 WHIP this season. The sad part is that he’s actually been fortunate as his FIP ERA is 6.11 and he’s given up 13 homers in 58.1 innings of work. Acuna Jr. has roughed up Fedde in his career, going six of 19 with a double, three homers and six RBI. Given how well Acuna Jr. is swinging the bat right now, look for him to put one in the seats.
