Best MLB Pitcher Strikeout Bets Today: Player Props for September 6

Gavin Williams, Guardians Over 7.5 Strikeouts (+100, Fanatics)

Williams quietly is the ace of the Guardians’ rotation this season. He enters this start 13-7 with a 3.81 ERA and a 1.092 WHIP over 163 innings of work. In addition, Williams is third in the majors with 217 strikeouts on the year. Among current Tigers hitters, he has recorded more strikeouts (35) than hits allowed (17) in 84 at-bats. Meanwhile, if that wasn’t enough, the Tigers strike out at the ninth-highest rate in the majors with 8.60 whiffs per game. That number climbs to 8.82 strikeouts a game on the road. Williams picked up 13 strikeouts over seven innings in his last start. This one may turn out in similar fashion.

Bryan Woo, Mariners Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-120, Fanatics)

Woo, like the Mariners as a whole, has been streaky this season. He is 10-9 with a 4.25 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, 22 walks and 149 strikeouts over 110.1 innings of work on the year. Woo has pitched the Athletics tough in his career, posting a 7-1 mark with a 2.22 ERA, a 0.935 WHIP and 58 strikeouts over 56.2 innings of work against them. Among current Athletics’ hitters, they have posted a cumulative .203 average with three extra base hits (one double, two homers) in 64 at-bats. Meanwhile, Woo has 20 strikeouts in that span, which is a 31.3% strikeout rate. In addition, the Athletics are slightly below average in terms of strikeout rate this season. Woo has success here and handcuffs the Athletics’ bats.

Best MLB Pitcher Prop Picks Today (09/06):

Gerrit Cole, Yankees Over 17.5 Outs (-210, Hard Rock)

Cole missed a big chunk of the season but pitched solidly since he return. He comes in 8-7 with a  3.29 ERA, a 1.106 WHIP, 22 walks and 110 strikeouts over 104 innings in 18 starts. Cole worked at least six innings in 11 of his 18 starts on the year. Meanwhile, he threw at least six frames in eight of his last 10 starts heading into this outing. He squared off with the Padres eight times in his career, posting a 5-2 mark with a 2.36 ERA, a 1.128 WHIP, 12 walks and 63 strikeouts over 49.2 innings of work. Cole is a solid arm and he goes deep enough to cash the prop here.

Paul Skenes, Pirates Under 16.5 Outs Recorded (-108, DraftKings)

Skenes struggled lately and his downfall is something that is cause for concern going forward for the Pirates. He threw 5.1 innings or less in six of his last seven starts entering this contest. In addition, he went more than six frames just once since mid-May. On the year, he is 9-11 with a 3.97 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, 44 walks and 179 strikeouts over 149.2 innings of work. Facing the Angels gives Skenes a pretty clean slate here. Still, with diminished velocity and a penchant to rack up strikeouts, it makes for another shorter outing for the Pirates ace.
