There is just over a week left in the Major League Baseball regular season. Five teams, the Dodgers, Brewers, Rays, Braves and Yankees, clinched playoff spots entering Sunday. Eleven others, the Giants, Rockies, Reds, Mets, Nationals, Marlins, Pirates, Cardinals, Angels, Royals and Athletics, are eliminated from contention.

There’s a full 15-game slate on the diamond, starting at 1:10 pm ET with a NL East matchup. The Philadelphia Phillies are on the road as they close out a weekend set with the New York Mets at Citi Field.

In the American League, three teams are within three games of the final wild card spot. Meanwhile, in the National League, the Padres’ recent surge gave them a five-game lead over Arizona for the final wild card spot.

Best MLB Pitcher Strikeout Bets Today: Player Props for September 20

Cristopher Sanchez, Phillies Over 6.5 Strikeouts (+125, DraftKings)

Sanchez and Zack Wheeler provide the Phillies with a 1-2 top of the rotation punch that gives potential playoff foes agita. He is 17-6 with a 2.51 ERA and 187 punchouts over 161.2 innings of work on the year. Sanchez is 4-4 with a 3.97 ERA, a 1.235 WHIP, 20 walks and 58 strikeouts over 56.2 innings of work in 13 career appearances, 10 starts, against the Mets.

Current Mets hitters hit a collective .220 (24-for-109) against Sanchez. In addition, he recorded 34 strikeouts (31.2% whiff rate) in those at-bats. Given his performance all season long, one should expect another stellar outing from the Phillies’ starter. Take the over in this one as a result.

Jacob Misiorowski, Brewers Over 8.5 Strikeouts (+115, Fanatics)

Where Misiorowski goes, strikeouts inevitably follow as he chases a NL Cy Young. Of course, when you can throw 105, it makes it rather difficult to get the bat on the ball. For the season, Misiorowski is 15-5 with a 1.89 ERA, a 0.812 WHIP, 42 walks and 243 strikeouts over 166.1 innings in 28 starts. He leads the majors in strikeouts entering this contest.

Misiorowski hasn’t faced Baltimore in his career. The only hitter for the Orioles that has faced him is Pete Alonso, who is zero-for-two with one strikeout. Misiorowski has at least six strikeouts in all but two starts this season. Meanwhile, he has 10 double-digit whiff outings. Take him to rack them up in this contest.

Best MLB Pitcher Prop Picks Today (09/18):

Jacob deGrom, Rangers Over 17.5 Outs (-110, FanDuel)

After a five-year stretch where he didn’t throw more than 92 innings in a season, deGrom stayed healthy the last two years. He made 30 starts last season and 29 so far this year, posting an 11-9 mark with a 3.79 ERA and a 1.069 WHIP over 154.1 innings. In addition, he has 194 strikeouts against 39 walks in those outings.

For this contest, deGrom gets a crack at a Blue Jays squad that ranks second-to-last in the majors with 4.03 runs per game. Meanwhile, they are 27th in the majors in runs per game on the road, averaging 4.09 runs a contest. That means deGrom should work deep into the contest.

Sandy Alcantara, Marlins Over 17.5 Outs Recorded (-140, DraftKings)

Alcantara bounced back this season after a rough 2025 that saw him post a 5.36 ERA over 174.2 innings of work. He enters this start 13-10 with one save, a 3.84 ERA, a 1.228 WHIP, 58 walks and 149 strikeouts on the year. In addition, Alcantara logged a league-high 206 innings of work entering this one. He cracked the 200-inning plateau for the third time in his career.

Alcantara is a bastion of consistency as he’s worked at least six frames in 26 of his 32 starts. Meanwhile, he worked 5.2 innings in two of his other six outings. Facing a Padres’ lineup that entered Saturday 26th in the majors with 4.05 runs a game as the home team works in his favor. Look for another good start here.
