MLB Pitcher Props for Sep. 14: Guardians' Williams Piles Up K's

There are just two weeks remaining in the regular season. The playoff races are in full swing and every game has meaning at this point of the year. There’s a 10-game slate on the diamond Monday, starting at 6:40 PM ET on the shores of Lake Erie. The Chicago White Sox are on the road as they open a pivotal AL Central series with the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field.

In the American League, three teams are within three games of the final wild card spot. Meanwhile, in the National League, the Padres own a 2.5-game edge on the Diamondbacks for the final wild card spot.

Tarik Skubal, Dodgers Over 7.5 Strikeouts (-106, FanDuel)

Skubal was dealt to the Dodgers from the Tigers at the trade deadline, bolstering the rotation of the two-time defending champs. He comes in 9-7 with a 2.84 ERA, a 0.974 WHIP, 24 walks and 164 strikeouts over 139.2 innings of work. Skubal missed some time earlier this season after elbow surgery but rebounded nicely. Cincinnati faded in the second half of the season. The Reds strike out at the highest rate (9.56 per game) in baseball. That number climbs to 9.74 strikeouts a night at the Great American Ball Park. On the year, he is 5-8 despite a 3.32 ERA, a 1.036 WHIP, 45 walks and 191 strikeouts over 168 innings. Detmers is just 1-5 at home though he has a 3.21 ERA and 114 strikeouts over 98 innings of work in 16 starts. Meanwhile, he faces a Seattle squad that is 28th in the majors with 4.06 runs per game. Detmers threw 6.2 scoreless innings in his lone start against the Mariners this year. In addition, he worked at least six innings in six straight starts. He works deep enough here to cash the prop.
