The final week of August and the dog days of summer roll on and it’s hard to believe we have five months of regular season baseball in the rear-view mirror. All 30 of the league’s teams are in action Tuesday night. The slate kicks off with a pair of games at 6:40 pm ET, including an American League tilt between the Rays and Tigers in the Motor City.

Best MLB Pitcher Strikeout Bets Today: Player Props for August 25

Gavin Williams, Guardians Over 7.5 Strikeouts (-130, Fanatics)

Williams quietly is the ace of the Guardians’ rotation this season. He enters this start 12-7 with a 3.72 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP over 154.2 innings of work. In addition, Williams is third in the majors with 201 strikeouts on the year. Among current Angels hitters, he has recorded more strikeouts (six) than hits allowed (five) in 23 at-bats. Meanwhile, if that wasn’t enough, the Angels strike out at the third-highest rate in the majors with 9.44 whiffs per game. Williams picked up 11 strikeouts over 5.2 innings in his last start. This one may turn out in similar fashion.

Jacob deGrom, Rangers Over 7.5 Strikeouts (-115, FanDuel)

After a five-year stretch where he didn’t throw more than 92 innings in a season, deGrom stayed healthy the last two years. He made 30 starts last season and 24 so far this year, posting a 9-8 mark with a 3.77 ERA and a 1.129 WHIP over 126.2 innings. In addition, he has 157 strikeouts against 32 walks in those outings. For this contest, deGrom gets a crack at a White Sox squad that is 25th in the majors in strikeouts as they fan 9.13 times per contest on the year. Meanwhile, deGrom has at least six strikeouts in 16 of his 24 starts this season. He picks up at least that many here.

Michael King, Padres Over 17.5 Outs (-147, DraftKings)

King has had the misfortune of the Padres’ offense misfiring for much of the first half of the season. As a result, his numbers were impacted. He enters this start 8-9 despite a 3.38 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP and 128 strikeouts over 149 innings of work. King tossed at least six innings in 17 of his 26 starts this year entering this contest. Petco Park has favored pitchers heavily this season. Meanwhile, facing the Pirates is in King’s favor as well. Pittsburgh scores nearly 1.4 runs per game fewer in the second half of the season (3.91) than they did before the All-Star break. That means King should go deep in this outing.

Aaron Nola, Phillies Under 17.5 Outs (-120, Fanatics)

Nola is enduring a nightmare season in 2026 to say the least. He is 5-9 with a 5.12 ERA, a 1.416 WHIP, 46 walks and 146 strikeouts on the year. Meanwhile, he’s served up 31 homers on the season, which are the most in the National League. Nola struggles to go deep in games this season. He’s thrown at least six innings just eight times in 26 starts on the year. Even with T-Mobile Park favoring pitchers this season, it’s impossible to bank on Nola giving any kind of length. Therefore, lean toward the under on his outs recorded prop here.
