MLB Best Bets Today for August 10: Home Run Picks and Top Player Props

Monday is here, and while there is not a full slate of games tonight, many teams are in action. Let’s check out some MLB best bets today, including player props and two value bets for players to hit a home run.

Best MLB Bets Today: Player Props for August 10

Logan Henderson 6+ strikeouts (+113)

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Logan Henderson (6-1, 2.70 ERA, 0.90 WHIP) has been pitching well since missing a month and a half earlier this season with a back injury. After missing a month and a half, he has been limited to 50 innings but has struck out 62 batters. He had eight Ks in his last start, totaled 16 in the previous two outings, and in his last seven starts he has struck out at least seven batters five times.

Henderson will be on the road facing the San Diego Padres, who are averaging 8.24 strikeouts per nine innings and have more punch outs at home than on the road.

It also adds value, as Henderson has never faced the Padres in his two years in the Majors.

Jake McCarthy 2+ hits (+203) 

Can he do it again? In yesterday’s MLB best bets today article, I picked Colorado Rockies Jake McCarthy to get 2+ hits, and that bet cashed in with him going for two hits.

To say he would be on fire as of late would be like saying the Red Sox and Yankees have a pretty decent rivalry. Major understatement. McCarthy had nine hits in the Rockies' last three-game series in St. Louis, ranks fourth in the Majors in batting average (.306) and is hitting a ridiculous .459 in eight games this month.

The Rockies face the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight, and McCarthy has three multi-hit games in the last four facing them.

MLB Best Bets Today: Home Run Picks 

Pete Alonso (+368) 

Can he do it again II? Like picking McCarthy to pick up at least two hits, I also picked Baltimore Orioles slugger Pete Alonso to have a home run, and he had two in yesterday’s game. He had gone through a long homerless drought, and I thought he was due, and man, was he going yard twice with four RBIs.

Another reason Alonso has solid value is that he will be facing Kansas City's Dean Kremer, who has allowed eight home runs in his last six starts. Kremer will be making his second start for the Royals and was recently traded from the Orioles, so Alonso will be familiar with his stuff.

Kremer has given up 12 home runs in 41 innings this season, which works out to giving up one every 3.4 innings.

Wilyer Abreu (+300) 

Boston’s Wilyer Abreu is swinging a hot bat, as in seven games in August he is batting .375 with four home runs and 10 RBIs. He not only has good value, as he has been hot, but the Red Sox will also be facing the Toronto Blue Jays, who will start Jameson Taillon. He has a less-than-stellar 5.96 ERA and is tied for third most home runs allowed (26).

Taillon will be making his second start for the Blue Jays after coming to them in a trade with the Chicago Cubs. Even though the Red Sox have not seen Taillon this season, he has served up six dingers over his last three starts.
