170,000 GC + 7 SC Chicago Has Not Had Much Success Against the Brewers
The Cubs are 4-7 against the Brewers this season and have faced them in two of the last three series, losing five of six games. In the last game, they lost 4-3 in 10 innings; Carson Kelly had 2 RBIs, and Michael Busch had 1 RBI.
Chicago ranks 19th in team ERA, and while the highest-scoring team in baseball, they have only scored three runs in each of the last three games.
The Cubs’ bullpen is banged up, ranks 23rd in bullpen ERA, and closer Jacob Webb has given up three late-inning home runs in his last six outings, including in the last game, allowing Milwaukee to tie the game in the ninth inning. Since mid-August, the bullpen has given up the second-most home runs.
Pete Crow-Armstrong (.281, 35 home runs, 97 RBIs) is the heavy favorite for the NL MVP at the top US sportsbooks and has two home runs and six RBIs over the last six games.
Cubs’ Starter for Series Finale
Kevin Gausman (9-11, 4.38 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) goes for the Cubs, who have won five of his six starts, including the last four since a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays. His last start was a gem, giving up one run in seven innings in the lone Chicago win over Milwaukee in the last six games. This season, the right-hander has pitched 162 1/3 innings, striking out 165 and walking 44.
4-3, Does the Trick, Again
The Brewers have won both games of this series by a score of 4-3. In the last game, Jackson Chourio tied the game in the ninth inning with a two-run home run, and Luis Lara had the walk-off game-winning single in the 10th inning.
Milwaukee has had a great balance this season, ranking second in team ERA and third in runs scored. Their balanced lineup has five players with double-digit home runs and six with at least 50 RBIs.
Brice Turang (.259, 17 home runs, 86 RBIs) leads the club in RBIs and has seven over the last four games. Chourio (.286, 22 home runs, 63 RBIs) leads them in batting average, and he has two RBIs in each of the games in this series.
Brewers’ Starter for Series Finale
Logan Henderson (9-3, 2.48 ERA, 0.70 WHIP) gets the nod for the Brewers, and they had won three in a row with him on the hill before his last outing opposing Gausman and the Cubs, giving up two runs in seven innings in a 2-1 loss. He had given up one run in each of the three starts before the last one, and he has not given up more than three runs in any start this season. Henderson has logged 83 1/3 innings with 93 strikeouts and only 14 walks.
Cubs vs. Brewers Prediction
Brewers ML FanDuel, -135
Great pitching matchup in this series finale, and while Gausman had the better outing than Henderson facing him in the last start, that will not be the case this time around. Henderson has been solid and consistent all season, while Gausman has been up and down in his six starts for Chicago. Henderson will have the better outing this time, and in what I see as another close and low-scoring game, the Brewers will get the W and complete the series sweep.
Cubs vs. Brewers Player Prop Bets
