The total has gone Under in four of the last five games for both of these division rivals, and that is the pick I am leaning towards. The Cardinals only scored six runs in their last series, and five of them came in one game.

The main reason for the Under for the Brewers lately is that their pitching has been solid. They have allowed only one run in each of their last two games, and they send a hot Gasser to the mound. He has allowed more than one run in only one of his last five starts, and in that game, he allowed only two. He will have another solid outing in his last start of the season.

The Brew Crew has a great lineup, but they have not scored more than five runs in any of their last five games. On top of that, the club will likely rest some key players, as they have already wrapped up the #1 seed in the NL playoffs.

Don’t expect a lot of fireworks in the dish in this series opener, and given that and the recent trends for both teams, the Under is the call.
