Braves vs. Dodgers Prediction, Odds & Props for Oct. 4: Atlanta Ties Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers won Game 1 of this playoff series at home against the Atlanta Braves and look to take a 2-0 series lead before it shifts to Atlanta. In this extensive Braves vs. Dodgers prediction, we will lay out the latest odds, betting trends, starting pitching matchup, and some value prop bets.
Game 1 Recap
In the first game of this best-of-five National League Division Series, the Dodgers beat the Braves 5-3. Tarik Skubal pitched the type of game the Dodgers envisioned when they traded for the reigning AL Cy Young winner this season. He went six innings, striking out seven and only allowing one run on two hits.
In the win, the Dodgers scored all their runs on home runs, with Kyle Tucker and Teoscar Hernandez each hitting two-run shots and Max Muncy hitting a solo home run. For the Braves, Ozzie Albies hit a two-run home run, and Sean Murphy hit a solo shot.

Starting Pitching Matchup
Braves
As of early Sunday morning, the Braves have not announced a starter for Game 2. The big question is whether ace Chris Sale (14-9, 2.16 ERA, 0.98 WHIP) gets the call. He pitched in Game 1 of the Wild Card series on Tuesday, going 6 1/3 innings and giving up three runs in the Braves' win, then pitched 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief in Game 3 on Thursday. According to MLB.com, his Game 2 start depends on how he feels.
Atlanta could use a good start from Sale, as they, obviously, do not want to go home down 0-2 in this best-of-five series. This season, Sale ranks third in ERA and 11th in strikeouts, logging 162 2/3 innings with 200 strikeouts and only 21 walks.
NOTE: Keep checking back, as we will update this section when the Braves announce a starter.
Dodgers
Blake Snell (4-1, 1.90 ERA, 1.10 WHIP) goes for the Dodgers in Game 2, and he missed just over three months with an injury after his season debut, where he gave up five runs in only three innings in a loss to the Braves. However, since returning, he has allowed no more than one run in any of his eight starts. This season he has 55 strikeouts and 16 walks in 42 2/3 innings of work.
Braves vs. Dodgers Prediction: Braves ML +126
Not an easy call since the Braves haven't announced a starter, but I think Sale will go. He was the rock for the Atlanta staff this season, and while he lost his first start against the Dodgers this season in the last meeting, he tossed a complete-game shutout.
Snell has pitched great since coming off the injured list. However, last season he was solid in his first three playoff starts before being lit up for five runs in each of his World Series starts, both of which were Dodgers losses.
The Braves had one of the best bullpens in the regular season but in four playoff games have a less-than-stellar bullpen ERA of 5.51. Still, even with Snell pitching great lately, I see Atlanta turning the tables and coming out on top in Game 2 with clutch hitting and solid pitching, as they even the series and head home for Games 4 and 5.
More Braves vs. Dodgers Picks, Props and Best Bets
- Blake Snell to allow Over 3.5 hits: (-148, DraftKings) – Snell has allowed at least four hits in three of his last four starts, and in the one start he did not, he only pitched one inning.
- Michael Harris II Over 0.5 hits: (-154, FanDuel) – While Atlanta’s Harris went hitless in Game 1 of this series, he leads the Braves in batting average (.294) and had a total of nine hits in the four games before the last one.
- Under 3.5 total runs in first 5 innings: (-114, DraftKings)– I look for a pitcher’s duel between the starters, and in Game 1 these teams only combined for two runs in the first five innings.
