The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed star outfielder Teoscar Hernandez on the injured list after he left Wednesday's game against the Colorado Rockies with a hamstring strain, per MLB Trade Rumors and other sources.

Teoscar Hernandez Placed on Injured List

Hernandez was hurt while trying to beat out a ground ball in the second inning of Wednesday's contest. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after the game that he did not yet know the severity of the injury. Meanwhile, The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya reported that Hernandez will miss a few weeks at a minimum. Roberts also noted that Hernandez is scheduled for imaging on Thursday with no concrete timeline to return.

The timing couldn't be worse for Los Angeles. The Dodgers are already without Kike Hernandez, who is set to miss an extended period of time after suffering an oblique tear. The Dodgers' depth will be tested. There will surely be speculation regarding a trade deadline move to bring in another outfielder.

Hernandez was one of the most productive hitters in the Dodgers' lineup before the injury. He logged a .276 batting average with seven home runs and 31 RBIs on the season. Hernandez's combination of power and run production will be difficult to replace in the short term. Los Angeles navigates what is shaping up to be a challenging stretch, with upcoming series against the Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Dodgers will likely need to make a corresponding roster move and could look internally for outfield depth while Hernandez undergoes further evaluation. More clarity on the timeline is expected once imaging results are available.

The Dodgers are 36-20 overall, with a 4.5-game lead in the NL West over the Diamondbacks.
