As we reach the midway point of May and approach two months into the MLB regular season, the Atlanta Braves currently have the best record in MLB and are starting to look like the team to beat at 31-15.

There is still a lot of baseball to be played, but it is getting to the point where the top record in the sport is not something to dismiss with nearly a 50-game sample size. That is not insignificant. It is a strong reflection of the Braves looking ready to make a real run at winning it all.

This is a team that has been very competitive in recent seasons, but it has not been able to get over the hump. So far this season, though, it feels different. The Braves are just piling up wins, and they are doing it in a really convincing way. They have been one of the most consistent teams in baseball.

If you look at the big picture, it becomes even more significant because the Braves are in a tough division. The Phillies have been another contender in recent years, and even with their slow start this season, that is still a team with expectations. There are always going to be division games and pressure spots that make it harder to separate, but Atlanta has done exactly that.

And beyond the division, the National League is loaded. The Braves are eventually going to have to go through teams like the Dodgers, the Cubs, and potentially clubs like the Padres or Brewers once the postseason arrives. That is what makes this start even more impressive. Atlanta is not doing this in a weak league or in some easy path.

At this point in the season, it is hard to doubt that the Braves are playing the best baseball in the entire league. There is a long way to go, but right now, Atlanta has the best record in MLB and looks every bit like a team built to make a serious October run.
