MLB Today’s Best Bets for May 29: Home Run Picks & Top Player Props
You've found the best MLB bets today for May 29! Friday's MLB slate takes us from Sacramento to Miami to the thin air of Coors Field. We've got two strikeout props and home run picks today to talk about. Let's dive into the best MLB picks today!
Best MLB Bets Today: Player Props for May 29
Carlos Rodon over 6.5 strikeouts at +125 on DraftKings Sportsbook is my top MLB bet today. The New York Yankees are set to visit Sutter Health Park to battle the Athletics in Sacramento.
Rodon is making his fourth start of the season after a late return from injury, and things are trending in the right direction. He's coming off a gem against the Blue Jays, where he threw five innings of one-run ball with seven strikeouts. Rodon reached 95 pitches in that outing, which suggests he could push toward 100 if he's cruising on Friday.
Rodon's stuff looks sharp: He's sporting a 28% strikeout rate and a 31% whiff rate through his first three starts, numbers that would rank toward the elite threshold on Baseball Savant if he were fully qualified. Meanwhile, the matchup is excellent for strikeouts. The Athletics rank in the top five in strikeout rate against left-handed pitching this season, and that's remained consistent since the beginning of May. I'll happily take this player prop at plus money.
Best Bet: Carlos Rodon Over 6.5 Strikeouts DraftKings, +125
MLB Player Props Today: Freddy Peralta Under 5.5 Strikeouts
Freddy Peralta under 5.5 strikeouts at +122 on DraftKings is another one of my favorite MLB player props today. We've hit on this under a couple of times this season, and the setup looks similar again.
Peralta is a talented arm. He ranks in the 62nd percentile in strikeout rate and the 66th percentile in whiff rate per Baseball Savant. Peralta can absolutely pop at any time, but the Marlins are not the pushover they used to be.
Miami has the third-best strikeout rate in baseball against right-handed pitching in May, and when you zoom out across the full season, that number still holds up as sixth-best. The Marlins' lineup is stingy, with a few low-strikeout bats toward the top of the order. Anytime I can get what I believe is a fair, accurate line at plus money, I'll take it and run.
Best Bet: Freddy Peralta Under 5.5 Strikeouts DraftKings, +122

I'm targeting MLB home run picks today at Coors Field, where the Boston Red Sox visit the Colorado Rockies. We don't target Coors Field often, but Michael Lorenzen is on the mound for Colorado tonight, and the matchup is simply too good to pass up. Lorenzen is allowing a massive .342 ISO against left-handed hitters this season, which is a number that plays right into the hands of Rafael Devers.
Devers has a .204 ISO against right-handed pitching in 2026 and has hit six of his seven home runs against right-handed pitchers. He's been showing signs of breaking out of a sluggish start to the season, hitting .287 in May and going deep twice over his last eight games. Devers at +289 on DraftKings Sportsbook is my top home run pick today.
Best Bet: Rafael Devers to Hit a Home Run DraftKings, +289
