MLB Today’s Best Bets for April 4: Home Run Picks & Top Player Props
We're back to break down the best MLB bets today worth targeting on Saturday, April 4! We have player props at Coors Field, and home run picks today against one of the most hittable arms in baseball. Let's get to it.
Best MLB Bets Today: Player Props for April 4
Leading off our MLB props today picks is Shane Baz of the Baltimore Orioles, and I'm going over 5.5 strikeouts at -119 on DraftKings Sportsbook. It's never been a question of whether Baz has the stuff — the issue has always been staying healthy. That changed in 2025, when he logged 166 innings and struck out more than a batter per inning. Baz was fantastic in spring training and has been a popular sleeper pick heading into 2026.
He'll battle the Pirates in Pittsburgh today, and I like this matchup from a strikeout perspective. Baz struck out 28% of left-handed batters last season, and he'll likely see five of them on Saturday. Oneil Cruz, at the top of the order, had a massive 30% strikeout rate against right-handed pitchers across the last two seasons. Henry Davis struck out 31% of the time against righties last season.
Marcell Ozuna struck out 24% of the time against right-handed pitching last year. And Konnor Griffin, despite his sky-high ceiling, struck out 13 times in 46 plate appearances in spring training — there are still holes in his game from a contact perspective at the MLB level.
Give me Baz over 5.5 strikeouts as one of the best MLB bets today.
Best Bet: Shane Baz Over 5.5 Strikeouts DraftKings, -119
MLB Player Props: Jesus Luzardo Over 17.5 Outs
Next up is Jesus Luzardo of the Philadelphia Phillies at Coors Field to take on the Colorado Rockies. This is a good get-right spot. Luzardo gave up six earned runs in the opener against the Rangers, but the stuff was there — he struck out seven hitters. My biggest takeaway is that he threw 99 pitches. That's a massive leash for a guy with a lengthy injury history.
Pitching at Coors isn't always a luxury, but today's betting board tells an interesting story. His earned runs and hits allowed props are juiced heavily toward the under, so it appears Vegas implies a solid outing. I like his outs prop at over 17.5 at -115 on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Hunter Goodman is the only hitter in the projected Rockies lineup with an ISO north of .200 against southpaws across the last two seasons. As long as Luzardo is efficient, completing 18 outs is certainly in the cards. If you're hunting for today's top MLB player prop picks, this is one of my favorites.
Best Bet: Jesus Luzardo Over 17.5 Outs DraftKings, -115
New Customers: Bet $5+ Get $300 in Bonus Bets Instantly Home Run Picks Today: Bryce Harper
We're sticking at Coors Field for one of my favorite MLB home run bets today. The Rockies are set to start Valente Bellozo, who is a true bottom-of-the-league MLB pitcher. His fly-ball rate and pull-air rate have been well above the league average across the last two seasons, according to Baseball Savant.
Bellozo's cutter is his most popular pitch, and in 2025, he gave up a massive .280 ISO to left-handed hitters with it. Overall against right-handed pitchers, Bryce Harper posted a .246 ISO last season, and in a limited sample against the cutter specifically, he had an ISO north of .500 — not sustainable, but encouraging.
We're getting a quality hitter at Coors Field at +310 on FanDuel Sportsbook. Harper has now homered in back-to-back games. There's always hesitancy to back a player riding a homer streak, but it's such a good matchup against a porous pitcher at a great ballpark that the stars might align again.
Best Bet: Bryce Harper to Hit a Home Run FanDuel, +310
This is one of the better home run picks today when you factor in the matchup and price. That wraps up the best MLB bets today card, including today's top MLB HR picks. Good luck, and have a great weekend!
