MLB Today’s Best Bets for April 29: Home Run Picks & Top Player Props
Welcome back! Here are the best MLB bets today for Wednesday, April 29, featuring three pitching props and home run picks today in some of the best weather on the slate. Let's get into the picks!
Best MLB Bets Today: Player Props for April 29
Elmer Rodriguez over 3.5 strikeouts is one of my favorite MLB best bets today at -122 on FanDuel Sportsbook. One of the New York Yankees' top prospects is making his MLB debut today, and the minor league resume is hard to ignore.
Baseball America ranked Rodriguez 59th overall heading into 2026. In the minors, he posted a 2.66 ERA and a 27.2% strikeout percentage, per Baseball Prospectus, moving quickly through multiple levels. He struck out 176 batters in 150 innings.
Rodriguez's fastball will sit around 95 mph, and he carries nice whiff rates on his secondary pitches as well. There's no MLB film on him yet, which is a plus here. The Rangers are striking out at a 23.1% clip against right-handed pitchers this season per FanGraphs, which is about the league average. Four strikeouts at a friendly price is very reachable for a pitcher with this great minor league profile.
Best Bet: Elmer Rodriguez Over 3.5 Strikeouts FanDuel, -122

Chris Bassitt under 4.5 strikeouts is a top play at -125 on BetMGM Sportsbook. Bassitt is posting ugly numbers in 2026. Per Baseball Savant, he ranks in the 1st percentile in strikeout percentage (bad), 3rd percentile in swinging-strike percentage, and 17th percentile in whiff rate.
Bassitt hasn't even reached four strikeouts in a single game this season, which makes me wonder why this number isn't 3.5. The Houston Astros are only striking out 20% of the time against right-handed pitchers in 2026, which is one of the stingiest marks in the league.
Best Bet: Chris Bassitt Under 4.5 Strikeouts BetMGM, -125
Bubba Chandler under 4.5 strikeouts is a familiar face in this column, and he's been a frequent winner. You can grab him at even money (+100) on BetMGM today against the St. Louis Cardinals. Per Baseball Savant, Chandler ranks in the 32nd percentile in strikeout rate and 39th percentile in whiff rate, with a slightly above-average chase percentage.
The Cardinals are right in the middle of the pack in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching. He's only eclipsed 4.5 strikeouts once this season. Even money on a pitcher with this profile and this track record is a strong look.
Best Bet: Bubba Chandler Under 4.5 Strikeouts BetMGM, +100
Up To $1500 in Bonus Bets Paid Back if your First Bet Does Not Win Home Run Picks Today: Shea Langeliers
For my MLB home run bets today, we're heading to Sutter Health Park in Sacramento. The Kansas City Royals visit the Athletics, and it should be around 76 degrees at first pitch.
Langeliers is absolutely pulverizing right-handed pitching this season with a .389 expected ISO, and this isn't a small sample fluke. His power numbers against righties have been strong over a full season of data as well. Langeliers also showed a devastating ability against right-handed sinkers, posting an absurd .434 ISO against that pitch dating back to the beginning of 2025, per AddMoreFunds.
Opposing pitcher Michael Wacha throws his sinker most frequently to right-handed hitters and has given up a .242 ISO on it dating back to last year. Langeliers is a reverse-split hitter built for exactly this matchup. At +290 on FanDuel Sportsbook, he's my favorite home run pick today.
Best Bet: Shea Langeliers to Hit a Home Run FanDuel, +290
