MLB Today’s Best Bets for April 2: Home Run Picks & Top Player Props
If you're looking for the best MLB bets today, you're in the right place. We're back with home run picks today and much more for Thursday, April 2. There are only three games on the board after the Blue Jays vs. White Sox contest was postponed, so we have a lot less to choose from compared to yesterday. We'll dig through the weeds and find the sharpest player props and home run picks today to get us back on track. Let's dive into it.
Best MLB Bets Today: Player Props for April 2
Robbie Ray kicks off our MLB props today against the New York Mets. Sure, Oracle Park is a great place to pitch, and the game total is as low as seven on some books right now. But this is a tough matchup for Ray to miss bats, and I'm looking at under 5.5 strikeouts.
The Mets were extremely stingy from a strikeout perspective against southpaws last season. New York is projected to roll out six hitters who struck out less than 20% of the time against left-handed pitchers in 2025. Ray did strike out a very respectable 25% of right-handed hitters last season, and he'll see a lot of them. But I'm siding with this contact-oriented Mets lineup.
I think this is a good number against a team that likes to see a bunch of pitches. Give me Ray under 5.5 strikeouts as one of the best MLB bets today.
Best Bet: Robbie Ray Under 5.5 Strikeouts DraftKings, -121

Ryne Nelson and the Arizona Diamondbacks take on the Atlanta Braves at Chase Field. Nelson had a really nice 2025 and is considered a breakout candidate by many, and he shapes up to be one of the best MLB bets today on a small slate. There's a little bit of juice on this one, but I like under 4.5 strikeouts at -122 on FanDuel Sportsbook.
Last season, Nelson struck out 23% of right-handed batters compared to just 18.9% of lefties. The Braves are projected to roll out six left-handed hitters against him, and five of those lefties struck out less than 20% of the time against right-handed pitchers last season. Mauricio Dubon is also projected to start for Atlanta. He's a right-handed hitter but struck out just 11% of the time against right-handed pitching last year. Dubon's presence is an important piece of this projected Braves' lineup for Nelson to hit under 4.5 strikeouts.
Again, there aren't too many MLB player props today to pick from, but when you also consider the good indoor hitting environment, I'll take the under on Nelson's strikeouts.
Best Bet: Ryne Nelson Under 4.5 Strikeouts -122, FanDuel

Now, let's take a look at MLB home run bets today. We have a small slate, and there are six fairly talented pitchers throwing on today's slate. I would dial back the unit size on home run picks, as I don't love anything on this board. But I'm going back to this Braves vs. Diamondbacks game with Ronald Acuña Jr. at +350 on FanDuel Sportsbook.
Where Nelson did get into a bit of trouble last season was against right-handed power. He threw his fastball about 60% of the time to right-handed hitters, who had an ISO north of .200 against that pitch. Acuna is obviously one of the game's best hitters, and in a fairly small sample size last season, he had an ISO better than .270 against right-handed fastballs. He's in a nice little matchup as one of the few right-handed hitters that mashed fastballs in this Braves' projected lineup
Best Bet: Ronald Acuna Jr. to Hit a Home Run +350, DraftKings
That wraps up my best MLB bets today, including today's top MLB HR picks. Good luck, and enjoy Thursday's action!
