MLB Today’s Best Bets for April 1: Home Run Picks & Top Player Props
If you're looking for the best MLB bets today, you're in the right place. We have a loaded slate for Wednesday, April 1, with plenty of MLB home run bets today and MLB player props to target. There's a ton of afternoon action across the country, with baseball's best pitchers and hitters taking center stage at 12:15 p.m. EST. Let's dive into the home run picks today and much more.
Best MLB Bets Today: Player Props for April 1
The Miami Marlins and Chicago White Sox square off at 1:10 PM EST, and this game features one of my favorite MLB player props today. Sandy Alcantara has been up and down over the last couple of seasons, and somehow, he remained with the Marlins through multiple trade deadlines after they liquidated a bunch of their ready-to-win assets.
Across 2024 and 2025, Alcantara struck out just 22% of righties and only 15% of left-handed hitters. He looked better down the stretch last year and had a nice spring, so he's primed for a bounce-back season. That doesn't necessarily mean he'll punch out six batters today, though. The White Sox are suddenly a pesky little team after some offseason acquisitions. Chicago is projected to roll out five hitters who struck out 20% of the time or less against right-handed pitchers across the last two seasons. Toss in the fact that it's early in the year and starters are still on a bit of a leash, and this number looks inflated.
I'm taking Alcantara under 5.5 strikeouts at -121 on FanDuel Sportsbook. This is one of the best MLB bets today on the board.
Best Bet: Sandy Alcantara Under 5.5 Strikeouts FanDuel, -121
New Users – Bet $5 Get $250 If Your Bet Wins! Home Run Picks Today: Nick Pivetta
In terms of best MLB bets today, Nick Pivetta's under 5.5 strikeouts prop is sitting at +101 on DraftKings Sportsbook, and that's where I'm looking next. The fact that this is a tick over even money is very appealing. Pivetta typically goes deep into games and posted a consistent 26% strikeout rate last season. But this San Francisco Giants' lineup is suddenly a bit more pesky with some of their offseason additions.
Luis Arraez is arguably the best contact hitter in the game. He struck out just 2% of the time last season, which is practically unheard of in modern-day baseball. His addition to a lineup that already features Jung-Hoo Lee — who owned a stingy 9% strikeout rate last season — makes this a tough spot for Pivetta to rack up punchouts. Harrison Bader is also in this lineup now, and he's good for some long at-bats too.
This is a really competitive number at plus money. Give me Pivetta under 5.5 strikeouts as another best MLB bets today selection. If you're hunting for today's top MLB player prop picks, this is one of the sharper ones on the slate.
Best Bet: Nick Pivetta Under 5.5 Strikeouts +101, DraftKings
Home Run Picks Today: George Springer
Now, for my best MLB bets today entry from the home run side of the board. George Springer at +330 on DraftKings Sportsbook catches my eye. Springer had a monster season last year — the man is aging like fine wine. He mashed 32 home runs in 2025 and already has two in 2026.
Springer draws a matchup against southpaw Kyle Freeland, which is why this prop is one of my favorite MLB home run bets today. Freeland struck out just 16% of right-handed hitters last season and threw his fastball about a third of the time to righties, who posted a .276 expected ISO against that pitch. Overall, Springer carried a solid .221 ISO against left-handed pitchers last year, and his advanced power numbers against southpaw fastballs were even better.
Best Bet: George Springer Home Run +330, DraftKings
Statistically, this one checks out, and Springer has been in solid form from a power standpoint early in the season. That wraps up my best MLB bets today, including today's top MLB HR picks. Good luck out there!
