FanDuel continues its growing sports betting influence, as it was named a co-exclusive official sports betting partner of MLB on Thursday morning, per a press release. This deal is a multi-year contract between the sportsbook and the league. It will present FanDuel with the right to MLB branding and category destinations. Moreover, the FanDuel Sportsbook-MLB conjunction affects the ‘book itself, DFS product, and FanDuel Faceoff.
MLB Meets FanDuel
This co-exclusive partnership is an expansion of the original deal between the parties. FanDuel has been working with MLB since 2019 when they curated an Authorized Gaming Operator partnership.
It also allow FanDuel fans to stream MLB.TV’s Free Game of the Day on the FanDuel mobile app. Fans will be able to watch one game a day during the season, directly on FanDuel Sportsbook, while also being able to wager on said game in real-time.
“The baseball fan is one of the most engaged in all of sports, which is why we’re delighted to be the new sports betting partner of Major League Baseball. Our team is eager to showcase FanDuel in nationally broadcast MLB games and help enhance game narratives and bring America’s Pastime directly into our mobile app and OTT platform for fans to watch and wager,” Christian Genetski, president of the FanDuel Group, said. “We’re also very excited about the opportunity to work together with MLB on new betting product innovations that will give customers the opportunity to enhance their experience on every pitch from March until October.”
The partnership aims to increase fan engagement through sports betting. FanDuel customers will be able to benefit from this deal. Even in markets that allow for DFS but not sports betting, thanks to the streaming option.
FanDuel’s Market Dominance
FanDuel continues to thrive as, arguably, the most attractive sportsbook in the industry. It’s deals like this one that push FanDuel to the forefront. Looking at new markets like Ohio, FanDuel dominated the opening month of wagers.
More than $494 million was wagered at FanDuel, giving the titular sportsbook a $100 million plus edge over second-place DraftKings. The clear gap in popularity at FanDuel is impressive compared to the rest of the market.
This FanDuel Sportsbook-MLB deal will help FanDuel remain on top. Expect more partnerships from the popular operator as the industry grows in popularity.
