MLB Best Bets: 2 Teams Worth Considering Wednesday

Today, I have two wagers in MLB bets, as I try to bounce back from a tough few days. I’m looking at one small favorite and one small underdog for Wednesday night’s slate.
The holiday weekend and early part of the week has been rough, as an 0-3 Monday dropped me to 149-122, +19.25u for the season.
Keep in mind that some of these lines will have moved by the time I get around to writing them up. The best way to get in at a good number is to use our MLB odds page and join TheLines.com’s free discord server to see the picks as they’re released. I encourage everyone to get involved in the discussion and, rather than tail anyone’s picks (including mine) without thinking, apply your own judgments as a filter. We have a great community of baseball fans discussing games daily.

Best MLB Bets For Wednesday, July 5
Toronto Blue Jays At Chicago White Sox
Notes for this game:
- Jose Berrios and Lance Lynn are similarly talented pitchers but I do have Berrios rated a tad better. He’s enjoying a resurgent season with the best called strike+whiff rate of his career.
- Chicago has been terrible hitting right-handed pitching, with an 87 wRC+ that ranks 25th in MLB.
- Toronto, despite underperformance at times, still rates well there with a 110 wRC+ that’s sixth in MLB.
- The Jays also have big edges on defense and in the pen, where Chicago blew it yet again on Tuesday and now rocks a 4.71 ERA (26th).
I bet Toronto at -118, with the best available line now .
New York Mets At Arizona Diamondbacks
Notes for this game:
- This one makes me a bit nervous as the Mets have seemed to maximize the ability to lose while the Diamondbacks have done the opposite.
- Still, New York brings much the better pitcher here. Kodai Senga has been rough with his control at times but the “ghost forkball” should find some success against a Diamondbacks lineup that’s been a bit weak against splitters (19th in MLB).
- Tommy Henry, meanwhile, is an up-and-down lefty, a Quad-A type. His FIP, xFIP and SIERA are all north of 5, though he does induce a good amount of chases.
I bet New York at +100, with the best available line now .
