The final major of the season has arrived, and the early betting action suggests a wide open Masters Tournament. The rescheduled 2020 Masters will be the biggest betting event of the PGA Tour season.
DraftKings director of sportsbook operations Johnny Avello told TheLines this week that “there has been good, steady action and a spike in betting this week” on the Masters.
Golf’s most popular tournament will be going up against college and pro football this weekend, but Avello does not expect to see much of a decline in wagering interest.
“The Masters handle fits perfectly with football,” he said. “Bettors will bet it strong all weekend through 11 jurisdictions now offering betting at DraftKings.”
DraftKings is running a pair of married Masters/football promos this weekend for new users including a “Bet $20 on college football, get $10 free in Masters betting” option, and an “All Sport Risk-Free Sunday” offer in which DK will cover your net losses up to $100.

The Masters is the only major championship which has a field that is exclusively determined by invitation. Just 92 players will tee it up at Augusta National Golf Club this week, and that includes the top 10 players in the world golf rankings.
TheLines’ PGA Tour power rankings has Dustin Johnson and Jon Rahm on top heading into the tournament, followed by Xander Schauffele, Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas. There is little separation in odds to win the Masters for those top five players and marquee names like Rory McIlroy and Brooks Koepka.
None of the seven PGA Tour superstars mentioned above have won the Masters – Koepka, Johnson and Schauffele tied for second last year behind Tiger Woods. McIlroy and Rahm have also finished top 5 in past Masters tournaments.

DraftKings’ DeChambeau offer
As seen above, bettors love wagering on DeChambeau and DraftKings Sportsbook has a great offer on “The Mad Scientist.” Bettors can double their money if DeChambeau makes the cut. The odds on DeChambeau to make the weekend were originally -769 at DK, but are now +100.

Masters props and matchups
DraftKings, FanDuel, PointsBet and BetMGM all have dozens of head-to-head tournament match-ups. Avello said Johnson is getting more play against Rahm, and adjusted odds went from -115 to -125 on DJ to have a better finishing position at DraftKings. Rahm is +100 against Johnson to wind up with a better score at Augusta.
Patrick Eichner, director of communications at PointsBet told TheLines that of the 42 tournament match-ups the book offers, DeChambeau vs. McIlroy is the most popular. McIlroy opened as a -130 favorite, but he’s down to -115 with DeChambeau (-105) taking 64% of the match-up bets.
DeChambeau is now +750 to win the Masters outright at PointsBet.
“With a special ‘fall ball’ rendition of the Masters in 2020, we still expect to see a ton of betting interest. The Masters is always one of our top events of the year in terms of handle,” Eichner added.
There are hundreds of props offered at DraftKings, FanDuel and PointsBet with a lot of fun and unique markets. PointsBet, for instance, has Par 3 props and closest-to-the-pin odds – the latter of which could be especially fun on hole 16. That’s where Rahm made two hole-in-ones during practices rounds this week at Augusta.
His second in two days, Jon Rahm skips his way to a hole-in-one at No. 16 – on his birthday, no less. #themasters pic.twitter.com/rtefAN5XtH
