Massachusetts sports betting will go live in just a few days with retail sportsbooks. Locals will be able to place action in-state for the first time. Fans can prepare for Super Bowl 57 betting starting at 10 a.m. on January 31. Here is everything fans need to know ahead of the Massachusetts retail sportsbook launch.
Where Can I Bet On Sports In Massachusetts?
Sports betting licenses have been approved at Encore Boston Harbor in Everett, Plainridge Park Casino in Plainville, MGM Springfield in Springfield, and Raynham Park in Raynham. Each location will go live with a local sportsbook that fans can physically enter and wager in their facility.
Encore Boston Harbor will launch a WynnBET sportsbook in-house. Plainridge will be launching a retail Barstool Sportsbook. MGM Springfield will bring its BetMGM brand to locals. And Raynham Park recently partnered with Caesars Sportsbook to launch a retail location.
“Raynham Park is in an excellent location in southeast Massachusetts and will be one of just a few retail sports betting locations in the Commonwealth,” said Eric Hession, President of Caesars Digital. “It’s great to partner with the Carney family, which has a long history in the community and an exciting vision for a tremendous sports entertainment and pari-mutuel simulcasting facility. We look forward to showcasing the Caesars commitment to world-class experiences through this partnership.”
What Can I Bet On In Massachusetts?
Sportsbooks in Massachusetts offer the same Las Vegas-style full-service sports betting that fans can expect. There will be odds for all major professional leagues with betting lines such as moneyline, spread, totals, prop bets, futures, and parlays.
There are restrictions on collegiate teams, with no betting allowed for in-state programs. The exception to this is end-of-season tournaments like March Madness or NCAAF Bowl Games. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) also placed restrictions on these sporting events listed below:
- Chess
- Cornhole
- eSports
- Jai Alai
- Summer Olympics
- Winter Olympics
Other than these restrictions, fans can find odds on pretty much all other major sports events at local Massachusetts retail sports betting venues.
When Is Online Sports Betting Launching?
Online sportsbooks will not go live in Massachusetts until March. There is no specific set date for the launch as of yet. This will likely be announced following the official launch of retail sports betting. The target was to have retail betting in time for the Super Bowl and online sports betting live in time for March Madness.
So far, the MGC has stayed true to this proposed timeline. There are already 11 online sportsbook applicants that have been approved for both tethered and untethered licenses.
Approved Online Sportsbooks:
- Bally Bet
- Barstool
- Betr
- BetMGM
- Betway
- Caesars
- DraftKings
- Fanatics
- FanDuel
- PointsBet
- WynnBet
When the official launch date for online sportsbooks is announced, this is when these operators will be able to begin accepting Massachusetts locals.
