Maryland online sports betting is progressing toward a launch. The state Lottery and Gaming Control has published the list of 10 Maryland sportsbook applications for the upcoming online market. The Maryland Lottery will meet Thursday, October 27, to review each application.
The applicants that are deemed qualified will then await the Sports Wagering Application Review Committee (SWARC) to approve them.
Big Name Operators Submit For Maryland Sportsbook Applications
The Maryland Lottery released the list of 10 applicants ahead of the Thursday meeting. These operators will be vying for a spot in the Maryland sports betting market. No official launch date has been set for Maryland online sports betting to go live. However, the launch window suggests late November or early December.

The Maryland Lottery’s review of the operators will be held on Thursday and sent to SWARC for final review. Once each applicant is evaluated by SWARC, they can be approved within 45 days. The deadline for final review will be November 21, meaning SWARC will not take the full 45 days to evaluate.
This is a major progression for Maryland. Residents have been eager for the mobile market o go live and now should see this in a few weeks. Maryland is also coming off of its largest month for sports betting revenue since launch. The booming retail market comes just as online near its launch.
What will Sports Betting Look Like In Maryland?
The Maryland online sports betting market will see statewide sports betting available through apps. The market will be similar to its neighbors in Virginia as well as how Washington D.C. lawmakers are hoping to become. This would make the entire DMV area mobile betting friendly.
