How Do Look-Ahead Lines Work?
Whichever point spread is most appealing, closing line value (CLV) is attainable if bettors can correctly predict the Final Four outcomes. Line movement also depends on injuries. Bets are void if a particular matchup doesn’t occur.
Duke Favored among look-ahead odds
Operators painted the Blue Devils as 4.5-point favorites among Final Four opening odds, and their look-ahead line against Florida is no different at FanDuel Sportsbook. Since the beginning of March Madness, the market has priced Duke like UConn over the last two NCAA tournaments.
After the Blue Devils went 3-1 against the spread (ATS) in their East Regional games, bettors must continue to pay a tax if they’re interested in wagering on Cooper Flagg and Co.
Similarly, Duke is favored by 5.5 points on the look-ahead line versus Auburn. When these teams faced off at Cameron Indoor Stadium in December, Duke (-3.5) covered the number.
Granted, these spreads will fluctuate after the Final Four wraps up. Suppose Tigers forward Johni Broome (elbow) dominates the Gators, and the Blue Devils narrowly upend Houston. The market would inevitably move toward Auburn.
Bruce Pearl’s squad, the top seed in the field, is also listed as an underdog against Houston. Remember that the Tigers upset the Cougars in a de facto road game on Nov. 9.
