Per the odds table, the best price on Toledo is (courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook). That’s good for a 41.67% implied probability. The Rockets have tallied the nation’s second-longest winning streak, notching 15 straight victories.
Tod Kowalczyk’s bunch showcases the eighth-rated adjusted offensive efficiency (per KenPom) across D-I. It’s driven by former Boise State guard RayJ Dennis, who touts a top-35 assist rate. Nevertheless, the Rockets’ defense is nearly as proficient, owing a bottom-90 rating. In particular, it struggles against isolation scoring. That’s an issue against the team behind them in the market.
Enter Kent State (). The Golden Flashes are led by a two-way threat in Sincere Carry, who boasts a top-175 assist percentage to boot. They also handed Toledo its most recent loss on Jan. 10, limiting their MAC to 0.98 PPP. That’s a product of their elite defense within the mid-major ranks.
Akron () certainly cashed its MAC tournament odds last season, but Kent State is easily the bigger threat to Toledo. Mind you, Rob Senderoff’s crew tallied single-digit losses to both Houston and Gonzaga in non-conference play.
