Week 3 NFL NFL Primetime Games

Thursday Night Football Lines

These teams have played a series of defensive struggles in recent years, but the offensive output here is expected to be semi-respectable. Can the Patriots build on their opening week win, and just how bad are the Bengals? These are the central questions around this game. If the Bengals walk into K.C. and get blown out, it may be a signal to take Jets lines here, as that win may not have the value it appeared at the time.

Sunday Night Football Lines

Kirk Cousins essentially had to play out of shotgun or pistol in Week 1, as it appears he cannot push off his surgically repaired foot forcefully enough to drive back out of an under-center snap. That could prove to be an issue, needless to say. So, how quickly will he improve? Watch for that heading into his Week 2 game against Philadelphia.

Chiefs lines could quickly climb closer to -7 here if the market’s priors on this Falcons offense prove unfounded. They had an extremely uneven opener against the Steelers. And the Week 2 matchup with the Eagles will not offer much respite unless Philly has an extreme travel hangover coming back from Brazil.

Monday Night Football Lines

Last year, the Bills walked into London to face a rested Jaguars team and got ambushed. That sent their season into a bit of a mid-year tailspin before they recovered for the final stretch. But, they’ll be looking to exact revenge, this time having the rest and travel advantages themselves.

The Bills continued their lower passing volume under offensive coordinator Joe Brady despite falling behind the Cardinals in Week 1. They’re expected to play in a neutral script against Miami in Week 2. If they slow the game down and attack on the ground, this total might wind up dropping a few points. The Jaguars did not manage a ton of offense against a middling Miami defense, and they follow up with a tough assignment against the Browns.

Monday Night Football Lines

The Bengals are still being priced as a borderline top contender despite the extremely poor Week 1 game. New England is expected to be the weakest opponent they face, although Washington certainly belongs in the same tier. All eyes will be on Joe Burrow. He really struggled against the Patriots, taking too many sacks. If he still looks like a shell of his former self, expect Commanders lines to drop below the key number here. Washington still has a frisky offense if Jayden Daniels can stay upright. They’ll be live underdogs to cover when playing from behind.

MORE POTENTIAL WEEK 2 IMPACT ON WEEK 3 LOOK-AHEAD LINES

Ravens At Cowboys

Both of these teams should enter this game off wins, as two of the biggest Week 2 favorites. It’s hard to see the spread having significant movement here, as the Cowboys won’t likely be laying the key number. Bettors could see Baltimore as slight favorites if the Cowboys stumble, but it would only cross through zero to -1 or so.

Where we could see some movement is the total. It’s quite high, befitting the way these teams performed at times in 2023. Lamar Jackson obviously had an MVP campaign, with Dak Prescott finishing a very respectable second. However, the Cowboys really struggled on offense against an admittedly solid Browns defense. And the Ravens were very limited in Week 1, moving the ball almost exclusively through Jackson scrambles and throws to Isaiah Likely.

If these offenses remain a step behind last year, expect a lower number on the board come Week 3.

Packers At Titans

Green Bay flies home from Brazil and tries to quickly reshape its offense around either Malik Willis or Sean Clifford. To put it kindly, neither of those men has a history of NFL success. If the drop from Jordan Love proves as drastic as it looks, bettors may find Titans lines moving up to or through the key number. This Titans defense is no slouch. It wasn’t their fault they blew a huge lead against the Bears.

Of course, Tennessee has its own issues to sort out on offense. It will be hard to trust Will Levis as a favorite, but at home against a QB below replacement-level would be the spot.

HOW TO USE NFL LOOK-AHEAD LINES

The look-ahead lines allow you a sneak peek at the projected lines for the following week’s games. This information from leading online betting apps will help provide lessons in understanding lines and projections before the current week’s games are played.

Many bettors tend to overreact to the previous week’s scores and results. The NFL Week 3 look-ahead lines provide a sense of stability from the bookmakers. They sometimes offer a clear, unbiased snapshot of perceived team strength.

Bettors can also gain an edge or find value in the lines once the weekend results take hold. See if you can find any over- or under-reactions by the market.

Of course, always take note of key injuries, travel, NFL byes/rest advantages, and NFL power rankings. Making adjustments is part of the process, along with accounting for teams’ strengths and weaknesses, against-the-spread angles, and personnel matchups.
