NFL Week 16 look ahead lines

NFL Week 16 look-ahead lines are out. The Dolphins will host the Cowboys, continuing their eternal quest for a breakthrough win. The market isn’t sure what to do with that line, with either team possibly favored depending on your sportsbook of choice.

Every week, usually on Friday, will post look-ahead lines for the following week’s games, pulled from NFL betting sites. These sportsbook odds give an early snapshot of the current market opinions of teams absent the week-to-week bias that can take hold following weekend results. Please scroll to the bottom of the page for info on how to use them.

Week 16 NFL NFL Primetime Games

Thursday Night Football Odds

The Rams have outperformed market expectations four weeks running, as the betting market just doesn’t seem to be buying in despite continued excellent offensive performance. That should keep up this week in a dream matchup against an inept Washington defense.

New Orleans should win as well in Week 15, but they must start to play better. The underlying metrics of recent performances are even worse than the results. The Saints haven’t played a good game since late October against the Colts. If that continues this weekend against the Giants, look for a number closer to +5.5 on Saints odds.

Saturday Night Football Odds

Complete turmoil and collapse have engulfed the Chargers. After they got routed in historic fashion on Thursday Night Football in Las Vegas, they fired Coach Brandon Staley immediately the next day. Considering they allowed more than 50 offensive points and 6 YPP to the Raiders, one shudders to imagine what a top-tier Bills offense could do.

Thus, after opening in the single digits at DraftKings Sportsbook, where it’s off the board Friday morning, this line has moved as high as +11.5 on Chargers odds.

With Easton Stick and a terrible defense facing a fringe Super Bowl odds contender, expect a ton of interest in Bills odds, which will likely keep moving the market that way.

Sunday Night Football Odds

Bailey Zappe finally got the Patriots offense moving in the right direction when they faced the Steelers. However, he’ll need to prove that wasn’t a fluke, and he faces a major test in Week 15 against a Chiefs unit that held Josh Allen to fewer than 5 YPA dropping back.

Since the Broncos are a low-variance team, and the Patriots don’t compare whatsoever to the Lions, expect any movement here to come from whatever Zappe and the offense can produce. This line sits in a bit of no man’s land between key numbers. If Zappe looks dreadful again, expect to see Broncos odds around -6.5, but if he can move the ball and cover against Kansas City, it might close more like -4.

Monday Night Football Odds

One of the most highly anticipated matchups of the season will pit possible No. 1 seeds from each conference against one another in San Francisco. The market expects the 49ers juggernaut to roll on this week. But the Ravens have a tough matchup in Jacksonville.

It’s hard to imagine 49ers odds climbing any higher, as sharps would be all over Ravens odds if they approach a full touchdown. Don’t expect much movement here unless the Ravens collapse on the road.

Ravens Upcoming Schedule

Kansas City Chiefs 11 – 6 – 0 Week 1: Sep. 5, 2024
Las Vegas Raiders 8 – 9 – 0 Week 2: Sep. 15, 2024
Dallas Cowboys 12 – 5 – 0 Week 3: Sep. 22, 2024

Bengals At Steelers

Sharp money blasted the Bengals all week prior to their most recent game. That proved prescient as they flattened the Colts, which violently swung the Week 15 line from Bengals odds as underdogs all the way to -4 favorites. Clearly, the market is buying in on this offense, which Jake Browning has humming along.

Enough Bengals respect has built up for Browning to open favored on the road here in some spots. And against a team that had him flustered and inept in a 16-10 loss during his first start. Remember, the Steelers were actually road favorites in that game.

That means this is quite a move. But if Browning can beat a blitz-happy Vikings defense that even veteran QBs haven’t solved, it will be hard to argue with it.

Cowboys At Dolphins

Another game where the early markets can’t seem to agree on which team to favor. Miami’s search for a big win continues. Their .328 strength of victory ranks ahead of only the Saints and Giants. Yet, the early lines show the Dolphins some respect as one can find them favored in some sportsbooks.

That’s a bit surprising, considering they enter Week 15 ravaged by injuries, with the offensive line in shambles and Tyreek Hill hobbled.

Meanwhile, Dallas appears to be peaking. However, perhaps the market is building in a letdown spot here on consecutive road games coming off multiple huge spots in a row (Eagles, then Bills, now Dolphins). Still, look for Cowboys odds to solidify as favorites if the Miami offense looks newly hampered in a tough spot facing the Jets.
