Michigan Online Gaming Operators Report $336M in August Revenue

Combined Michigan online gaming was at $336 million for August 2026, according to the latest reported figures.

The revenue covers all online gambling sites, including casinos and sportsbooks. The figure of $336 million was down around 2.5% compared to July.

Despite the month-on-month decrease, overall iGaming in Michigan was up compared to 2025. The Michigan Gaming Control Board reported Adjusted Gross Receipts across all online gambling up 17.6%.

Huge World Cup Can’t Improve Figures

Sports betting in Michigan accounted for $330.5 million in total handle online for August. That marked a 7% drop compared to a month earlier.

That’s probably understandable, given the end of the FIFA World Cup which was a boomtime for many online sportsbooks.

Michigan online sports betting was up over 20% for June, just as the first World Cup ball was being kicked. Handle was also helped by having a home World Cup that was being co-hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

Detroit Casinos Report Y-o-Y Increase

The Michigan online gambling figures followed on the heels of reports from Detroit’s commercial casinos.

Retail sports betting at Detroit casinos was also hit by the post-World Cup lull. QAGR (Qualified Adjusted Gross Receipts) for retail sports betting was down in August, 7.1% compared to the previous month.

However, there was better news for Detroit’s table games and slots businesses. Table game and slot revenue was up 3.0% year-over-year for the month of August. MotorCity had the best returns, up 8.3% in revenue to $33.77 million. MGM was also up, 2.3% to almost $53 million.

bet365 Boosts Michigan iGaming

Michigan online gambling may be a few years old, but it is still welcoming new, major players.

bet365 is the latest online gaming provider to go live in the Great Lakes State back in April. Under state rules, it must have market access in partnership with a Michigan tribe, in bet365’s case the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians.

The Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians reported total Adjusted Gross Receipts of nearly $7 million for the month of August.

Michigan Continues ‘Unlicensed Gambling’ Crackdown

Michigan has been one of the most protective states over its regulated gambling industry. Not only does the Great Lakes State offer brick-and-mortar casinos and sportsbooks, but it also has an established iGaming industry.

However, Michigan has been at the battlefront against prediction markets this year. It banned Kalshi from offering sports event contracts to customers in Michigan during the summer.

Robinhood also stopped offering sports predictions to customers based in the state. The agreement was called a “another win for Michigan consumers,” said Henry Williams of the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB).
