Kevin Durant Odds: Next NBA Team
Phoenix Suns Are Betting Favorite
After falling to the Dallas Mavericks in the 2022 Western Conference Semifinals, sportsbooks are expecting general manager James Jones & Co. to be heavily in pursuit of the two-time NBA Finals MVP. Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes first reported that the Suns (-225) are Durant’s preferred trade destination.
Nevertheless, rumors are also surfacing that the Nets would require three-time All-Star Devin Booker, who’s on the verge of signing a super-max contract extension, to be a part of the deal. Plus, Brooklyn is unlikely to agree to a sign-and-trade for center Deandre Ayton if Phoenix says no to a Booker package.
With that in mind, the Nets find themselves behind Phoenix in the betting market (+700) to retain Durant’s services. Nevertheless, BetMGM Sportsbook adjusted accordingly after an influx of Suns money to win it all, as Phoenix currently sits as the NBA title favorite (+500).
Brooklyn would first need to trade Ben Simmons before dealing for Booker or Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat (+900), which are tied for the fourth-shortest Kevin Durant odds. That’s because of the league’s limit of only allowing one designed rookie-scale contract player on a given roster via trade.
One Team’s Odds Shift Rapidly
The Philadelphia 76ers opened at +1500 to acquire Durant’s service, yet DraftKings quickly altered their odds to +800 within two hours of originally generating the market. Joel Embiid, the runner-up in the NBA MVP odds race in each of the last two seasons, is reportedly making a hard push for Durant. They tipped off free agency by signing defensive specialist P.J. Tucker to a three-year, $33.2 million deal.
That adjustment pinned Daryl Morey’s team behind the Nets, followed by the aforementioned Heat and Chicago Bulls (+900), Portland Trailblazers (+1200), Boston Celtics (+1300) and Dallas Mavericks (+1800).
Both Caesars and PointsBet Sportsbook initially posted Kevin Durant odds before taking them down (as of Thursday).
